With a master degree in Protected Areas Management, I am working in the wildlife conservation unit as part of my role at APASAT NGO. My role focus on data collection on wildlife, field assessments, human wildlife coexistence and local community’s engagement in conservation efforts. This includes project management, proposal writing for funding and team supervision. I am currently leading a project on Human-Wildlife Coexistence, specifically addressing coexistence challenges between communities and the Critically Endangered Red-bellied Monkey (Cercopithecus erythrogaster erythrogaster) in the Biosphere Reserve of Ouémé. I am leading the team to conduct primate population monitoring, assess the interactions between local populations and primates, undertake coexistence strategies through environmental education, alternative livelihoods, and non-lethal deterrents and enhance community involvement in conservation approaches.

I am a recent graduate from the Wildlife Research and Training Institute, with a passion for conservation and a diverse set of skills honed through hands-on experience.  During my attachment program at Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park and my volunteer work with Reefolution Trust, I have gained invaluable expertise in:  Coral Restoration: Engaging in coral planting, nursery maintenance, and out-planting to rejuvenate marine ecosystems. Marine Debris Cleanups: Organizing and participating in cleanups to protect our oceans. Community Engagement: Facilitating group discussions and outreach programs to foster local involvement in conservation efforts. Data Collection and Entry: Gathering and managing data crucial for research and conservation projects. Human-Wildlife Conflict Resolution: Developing strategies to mitigate conflicts between humans and wildlife.  My interests are deeply rooted in:  Wildlife Protection: Advocating for and implementing measures to safeguard endangered species. Environmental Education: Sharing knowledge and raising awareness through my Twitter (X) page. Habitat Restoration: Participating in projects aimed at restoring damaged ecosystems. Community Engagement: Collaborating with local communities to develop sustainable conservation strategies. Policy and Advocacy: Working on policies to support and enhance conservation efforts.  While I currently possess a broad range of skills, I am eager to specialize further and make a significant impact in the conservation community. I am a dedicated conservation scientist interested in bridging gaps between science, conservation, and policy to benefit wildlife and people. With 20 years of experience across career sectors, I have collaborated in diverse working groups to develop science-based conservation strategies that support biodiversity and stakeholder needs. I specialize in the impacts of climate change and habitat loss on wildlife and ecosystem health. My work on migratory birds as bioindicators of changing seasonality in northern forests in the USA has informed critical initiatives like “Foresters for the Birds” and clean energy policies addressing the climate crisis. In the California Channel Islands, I led recovery efforts with a wildlife non-profit for threatened and endangered species impacted by habitat degradation from introduced species, resulting in species delisting. I taught field courses in sustainable natural resource management in New Zealand that incorporated Indigenous practices. As Director of an undergraduate field research program, I trained the next generation of conservation leaders.  I earned a Ph.D. in behavioral ecology, an M.S. in zoology, and a B.S. in zoology. My postdoctoral work spanned Southeast Asia and the Caribbean, enhancing my regional knowledge of biodiversity hotspots.

Je suis diplômé de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Agriculture(ENSA) de Thiès avec comme spécialité Foresterie et Environnement. Aprés cinq année en service à Kédougou(Senegal) en qualité d'adjoint à l'inspecteur régional des Eaux et Forêts, Chasses, je suis récemment  affecté dans la région de Kaolack pour poursuivre ma mission dans l'administration forestiére. Fort de plusieurs années d’expérience dans la région de Kédougou en suivi-évaluation, en études d’impact environnemental et en gestion des ressources naturelles, je suis convaincu que mon expertise peut contribuer efficacement aux objectifs environnementaux et sociaux de votre entreprise. Mon parcours m’a permis de développer une expertise approfondie en gestion environnementale, en suivi des écosystèmes, ainsi qu’en évaluation des impacts des projets miniers sur l’environnement et les communautés locales.
