Passionate about the world, I consider myself a global citizen. Born in Belgium, I have lived 10 years in South Africa, 22 years in France, 2 in New Zealand, and 6 in Switzerland. I have also had the privilege to work and travel for 18 months in Zambia. I speak English, French and German. Altruistic and empathetic, I live accordingly to the most beautiful word in the world “Ahimsa” (respect for all living things and no violence towards others). Defending animal and human rights, reducing our impact on the environment and protecting the beautiful place we live in everyday are part of my core values.
I am working on a project called Nextdoor Nature, which aims to give communities the tools and skills that they need to take action for nature. I am at the beginning of my career in conservation, and I hope to build a career in conservation project management.
Wildlife Conservation masters student
I am the founder of Ubuntu Magazine. We share personal stories from the frontlines of conservation globally.
I have a background as a Applied Biologist and have been traveling the African continent since September '22 in a Land Rover Defender. Alongside watching wildlife and learning more about new countries and cultures, we (my partner and I) visit projects for Ubuntu Magazine.
Hi all!
My name is Alexandra Howard and I'm a South African PhD candidate focusing on the ecosystem services of bats in apple farms in the Afromontane Research Unit at the University of the Free State in central South Africa. After graduating with a Masters degree in Zoology from the University of Pretoria, I worked as a research manager in the NGO sector with a focus on endangered species including vultures, rhinoceros and pangolins.
My goal is to connect the fields of science, conservation and society by narrowing the information gaps and encouraging collaboration.
