I'm Liane, and I am a WildLearning Specialist at WildTeam! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all! For the last few years, I've been working in Seychelles, focusing on island and marine conservation efforts, particularly coral restoration and turtle nesting monitoring. If you ask me questions about coral, be prepared for me to get very nerdy about it! Prior to that, I was managing a project in Northern Thailand, where I worked closely with a local community to set up ethical elephant experiences in their village. In my free time, I love running and hiking, and being anywhere in nature. I have also learnt to freedive in the last few years and enjoy doing that when possible. I'm really interested in talking to different people and learning from them and their unique experiences.

I am an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in environmental social sciences and humanities, interested in sustainability and environmental protection. My areas of expertise range from environmental history to human geography, from environmental law & policies to environmental management. In recent years, my work has focused on human-nature relationships in water environments and water management (more specifically related to flood risk). Currently, I am wrapping up my PhD while working as visiting researcher in Sweden.  I am also passionate about animal welfare and ethology and over the years I have had the opportunity to support projects studying wild horses, salmon, beavers and orcas for a number of environmental organisations. 

I have a lifelong fascination and love for all things zoological which began at an early age, as I grew up on a "diet" of nature and wildlife documentaries from Animal Planet, National Geographic, The Discovery Channel, and more. My most recent work experience has mostly been within laboratory animal husbandry. My true passion, however, has been within the realm of wildlife conservation, and after a series of short-lived jobs within laboratory work, I decided to close that door, and finally pursue my "true calling". Ideally, I am looking for a full-time job which may utilize writing or photography to promote the conservation of wildlife worldwide. The aspects of wildlife conservation I am most passionate about are the protection of biodiversity, and endangered/threatened species, education and public outreach, and human-wildlife conflict. I have a B.S. degree in Zoology, and an M.S. in Environmental Studies (concentration: Conservation Biology). Over the course of my studies, I have gained experience in performing and analyzing field research.  Among the skills I have developed are Microsoft Office and the programming language R. I also participated in a study abroad in southern Africa, taking part in field work involving species abundance and diversity. As a requirement of my M.S. degree, I completed a thesis in which I explored the impact of realistic coyote models and samples of coyote urine on deer behavior as a means to decrease their browsing in residential areas.  Currently, I am a volunteer Writer for the New England Primate Conservancy. All-in-all, I am leveraging experience in technical/scientific/creative writing, project management, data collection, and wildlife photography. I am extremely responsible, organized, creative, and a hard-working individual who loves learning new skills. My photography has also been credited by organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, and Zoo New England. Biodiversity officer for Flintshire in North East Wales my particular interests are environmental education, urban green infrastructure, native mammal ecology and use of mapping for conservation.

I have recently joined the Local authority as the Local Nature Partnerships coordinator. It is based on the LNP Cymru project that will be running until May 2022. I have studied Environmental Management MBA at Bangor University and graduated with first class Honours. I studied Geography at University of Chester at undergraduate. I am from North West Wales but have a vast wealth of travel experience, having travelled and worked in both Canada and Australia but visited 26 countries in total. I am a bodybuilder in my spare time and love readong thriller novels. I am always up for an adventure holiday. My idols are David Attenborough, Will Smith, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I have an MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. I am originally from the United States but now live in North Wales with my partner.

I am a WildLearning Specialist at WildTeam with a PhD in Conservation Biology.

My background is mainly in species conservation, education and capacity development. I researched mother-young interactions in gorillas and chimpanzees, in captivity and the wild. After that, I worked for three years in Indonesia, where I developed and implemented youth ambassador and community engagement programmes on local and regional scales. I work as Community Manager at WildHub since 2020, and I am an Associate Member of the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) at the University of Kent where I obtained my PhD on capacity development for conservation in 2022.
