I've been working as a ranger in England for about 10 years now, mostly for the National Trust but currently for a relatively new, small forestry charity called Heart of England Forest.
I've run teams of volunteers, managed small scale projects, provided training in a range of rural activities such as dry stone walling and hedgelaying but recently my biggest project is planting trees for 6 months.
When I'm not working, I'm playing the piano, out riding my mountain bike, doing calligraphy or most often, in the kitchen, cooking.
I've joined Wildhub as a way of taking part in the Project Management in Wildlife Conservation course, with the intention of progressing my career.
I'm the Education & Conservation Manager at The Wildwood Trust's Devon site; running formal and informal education, a number of in situ and ex situ projects. My main interests are in wildlife conservation, research, animal behaviour, reintroductions, social science and outdoor education.
I have a MSc in Zoo Conservation Biology and completed a dissertation on measuring wing tears in bat flight behaviour. Im regularly out surveying for Bats, Dormice and Hedgehogs in my free time.
Dreamer and adventurer for primate conservation
I completed the MSc Primate Conservation at Oxford Brookes University in 2019 during which I had the chance to study a group of capuchins in rehabilitation at ONCA Wildlife Rescue. I then went to Ikamaperu where I was in charge of the rehabilitation process of the orphan woolly monkeys as well as of the communication of the centre on social media. 🙈
In 2018, I created Primate Odyssey a project to share my adventure around the world to raise awareness about primate conservation and inspire people to act for conservation. Embark on my adventures with me by following me on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook! 🌏
Currently self-employed. Previously I was the Coordinator for the Marine Conservation Action Fund Program (MCAF) at the New England Aquarium. I have a B.S. in Environmental Studies specializing in Policy from Northeastern University, and have a certificate in leading remote teams from Cornell University.
I'm a conservation entrepreneur. I helped start: 1) Freshwater Life, which protects the most endangered freshwater species from extinction by eradicating invasive fish. 2) Island Conservation and Conservación de Islas, which combined have protected over 460 species from extinction and formed 1,665,000ha of marine and island protected areas. 3) Conservation Metrics, a for-profit social venture that uses machine learning tools to analyze sensor-derived big data on wildlife populations, and drive iterative improvements in conservation. 4) Henry Arnhold Fellows Program, which finds great people with proven conservation solutions and helps them take those solutions to scale. 5) Conservation Action Lab, which trained 27 grad students and post docs now doing cool stuff in conservation and academia- and publishes lots of papers on conservation and ecology. 6) Coastal Science & Policy Program at UCSC which trains new conservation leaders from all over the world. I have a: B.S. in biology from the UC, Santa Cruz; M.S. in marine sciences from Moss Landing Marine Labs; and, Ph.D. in neurobiology and behavior from Cornell University.
My name is Athumani Zuberi. I am 28 years old. I live in Arusha, Tanzania. My lifelong purpose is to contribute to the Global Effort of Building a Better World for the Coming Generations. I am the Founder and President of Mt. Kilimanjaro Life Foundation and Tanzania Wildlife Society
I looked around in my community and saw people having enormous difficulties to contribute to the development of themselves, their families, and their country. I had a wake up call when I realized that more than 3 billion people on our planet live in poverty which prompted me to found Mt. Kilimanjaro Life Foundation
The social mission of Mt KLF is to teach the community higher consciousness entrepreneurs and leadership skills. As Einstein said: “We cannot solve our current problems from the same consciousness that created them.” To begin, we need a shift in the way we think. The world is nothing but a reflection of our mindsets. Before the outer change can come we need an inner transformation.
This new insight completely changed the way I approached my life goal. We cannot make a lasting contribution feeding the poor by hunting for money in a system where money is purposely created in scarcity by a ruling elite. We need to redevelop the system.
Next I asked myself: "What is the system?" Then I realized that WE are the system. So if we change, the world will change. I had never been that excited. I will now dedicate the rest of my life to awaken the people to the power we have inside. It is time to unite and learn! . . . ! or maybe I should say unlearn!
My vision is a world that works for ALL people!
Through community economic development projects such as Mt. Kilimanjaro Living Classroom, skill training, mentor-mentee matching, entrepreneurship development, and private public partnership programs help to empower women leadership and youth job opportunities as well as improve social infrastructure within each village, communities, and then subsequently towns and cities.
This is how we may uplift each other one person, one village, one community at a time!
I joined WildHub to connect with fellow conservationists and contribute to meaningful discussions. My Professional is Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, also experience in agriculture and health sectors, and I'm passionate about wildlife conservation. Excited to be part of this community
