Hi, my name is Núria
Hello everyone,
My name is Núria and I am 26 years old. I am a Spanish biologist with a recently finished master's degree in primatology. In 2021 I had the opportunity to do an internship at Fundació Mona (Girona, Spain) making observations of chimpanzees, and from there I fell in love with primates. Since then I have been able to make behavioral observations in a zoo, work in an ex-situ rescue center with Macaca sylvenus and recently I went to a nature reserve in Ecuador to study one of the 25 primates in a critical danger of extinction: Cebus aequatorialis. There I made observations for my master's thesis, which investigated behavioral contagion in these capuchins. I am currently working to publish this work, it would be my first article! I am very excited.I am also looking at what my next step could be. I am passionate about primates and I am very clear that I would like to fight for their conservation, that's why I decided to join this community. I am also looking to gain more experience and I am more and more determined that I would like to pursue a PhD. Social cognition is something that fascinates me, understanding how they communicate... but I am open to a world of possibility.I would love to talk about science and these monkeys that I adore, if any of you have any questions or would like to know more, please feel free to ask me.Thank you very much for your attention,Núria
I share with you a picture of a female capuchin that I was lucky enough to study: Garfield
