A warm welcome to WildHub Viana! Wonderful to have you join us and to hear that the article written by our expert contributor and WildHub Key Creator @Arvind Kumar Chaurasia brought you to our community.
What has been your most important learning moment so far during your work at the Cuban environmental authority?
I would recommend clicking on the "Watch" button of the room Wildlife Trade & Crime, which is where Arvind publishes most of his contributions on this topic. You will then be notified by email if any new content is published there.
Dear Thirza, it is a pleasure to belong to this platform. I have already been taking a look at the articles they have shared and I find everything I have read very interesting.
My entire professional life has been a great fetus and an immense learning opportunity. I am a veterinary doctor, which is a profession that focuses on health but also animal production. The paradigm shift that it means for a veterinarian to work in the environmental sphere and specifically in the control of trade in endangered species forces you to learn something new every day, continue studying and, above all, to really understand what the sustainable use of these species means.
Thanks for the tips using the watch tool!!!!
What brought me here was an article shared on LinkedIn from this platform about the use of computer tools to combat illegal trafficking of species. For almost 20 years I have worked in the Cuban environmental authority, first as a specialist in issues related to the safe use of biotechnology and more recently about 5 years ago in the CITES Management Authority. My interest in this platform is mainly aimed at keeping up to date on topics such as the one that brought me here, that is, the use of computer tools by law enforcement and environmental authorities to combat and monitor illegal trade in protected species.
