Are you a seasoned international campaigner with Global South experience? Are you fed up with the relentless expansion of fossil fuels and industrial agribusiness driving climate chaos? This is a great opportunity to make a difference!
We're seeking a global Campaigns Lead to coordinate ActionAid’s new international campaign that seeks to shift money out of climate-destroying industries and into green alternatives led by women and youth. Reporting to the Head of Campaigns and Communications, you will also be at the forefront of expanding AAI’s base of popular support both South and North - with particular attention to learning from and nurturing new forms of organising, mobilising, and movement-building in the 45 countries where we work.
This is a global leadership role and to be considered, you must have a minimum of 3 years' experience of building and managing multi-country advocacy campaigns for an international organisation. You must bring a strong track record as a project manager, team builder, and networker. You'll be analytically sharp and an excellent political strategist. Ideally, you'll be familiar with the climate divest/invest movement, and/or have worked on other campaigns targeting global financial actors and institutions.
The Role:
The Campaigns Lead will play a key leadership role in designing and coordinating ActionAid’s new global campaign on climate finance, which aims to shift billions out of climate crimes and into people-led green alternatives. You will also be a key contributor to the creation of joined-up public engagement strategies and tools to significantly expand AAI’s base of popular support in both Global North and Global countries. You will help evolve ActionAid’s campaign vision, signature, and toolbox in response to the changing external landscape, with particular attention to learning from new forms of organising, mobilising, and movement-building both in the Global South and Global North.
Who we're looking for:
You will have substantial senior-level experience of developing and project managing international campaigns rooted in the Global South and with a strong grassroots component. You’ll bring a collaborative feminist leadership approach and demonstrated ability to build effective teams and deliver results in the face of competing priorities, limited budgets and impossible deadlines. You’ll excel in relationship-building, both internally and externally. You’ll work equally well with fundraisers and comms staff, policy and programmes people, and external allies - understanding and balancing their different needs from campaigns. Ideally, you’ll be familiar with climate justice and specifically with divest/invest movement, but more importantly you’ll have sharp political instincts, able to get on top of the changing policy and power landscape quickly and evolve strategy and tactics to match.
What we offer:
ActionAid is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive workplace where we recognise a job well done, encourage close collaboration and sharing power, and where safeguarding standards and feminist leadership are exemplified everywhere. At ActionAid, you can look forward to a fair compensation package and a flexible working environment, including
- A workplace that embraces intersectional feminist principles
- Generous maternity, paternity and adoption pay
