I hold a Ph.D. in Zoology with >12 years of international experience as a scientist and project leader. I am leveraging my skills as a scientist to perform analytical contract work. Real-time data streams require infrastructure. Obtaining data is one part of the equation; turning the data into real-world solutions is where I excel.
***The Vision***
- I envision a world where technology meets conservation in an open-source collaboration space, empowering individuals to make a tangible impact on their communities and the environment.
- I believe in the power of collective action and am committed to fostering partnerships that drive positive change.
- Together, we can build a future where people and nature thrive in harmony.
***The Approach***
- Facilitate open-source software collaboration, product development, and testing in real-world scenarios (homes, wildlife, antipoaching, agriculture) to ensure accessibility and local capacity building.
- Technology adoption and application: Work with partners to facilitate the deployment of technologies in communities where it is most needed. Save time and money by not trying to re-event the wheel…
- Educate people on the new technology.
- Integrate animal-borne devices into our framework to monitor wild dogs, leopards, and vultures to detect snaring and poising events, but also to create virtual fences that connect to our system and alert people of approaching risks.

Welcome to WildHub, Nico.
Welcome! I am happy that people are looking into technology for conservation. This is something that really was not touched in when I was in undergrad (even in 2015). It's actually something I am trying to get into now, early career. Would you mind if we connected so I can learn more about what you are doing?
Dear Anne, thank you for connecting. I would be happy to chat about Tech4conservation. I am also still starting and making some traction. The conservation tech community is full of great people. I would be happy to share some insights. Your work on migratory bird monitoring in the USA is interesting and would certainly benefit from collaboration with e.g., the Texas-based Rainforest Connection | Home (rfcx.org) group's acoustic devices. Also, see this fun USA project that you could still join (Participant Roles – Eclipse Soundscapes).
Thank you for sharing. I have been keeping my eye on Rainforest Connection and would love to do that type of work. I also sent you an email. :)
A warm welcome to WildHub, Nico! Great to have you join us and thank you for sharing about your background and your goals!
Perhaps of interest to you are our WildHub socials which is an informal and easy-going way to network with other members. Upcoming socials are advertised here. Let us know if you have any questions.
