A youth-led community organization in Kenya, is implementing renewable energy projects (solar-powered water systems) to tackle water scarcity and promote sustainable development in ASAL region.

We are currently seeking support to scale these initiatives and would greatly appreciate any referrals or connection to donor agencies, organizations or partners that fund youth-led, climate or renewable energy projects.

If you know of any relevant opportunities or contacts, please feel free to reach out at earthcare.nyalorecbo@gmail.com or uhuru.olusegun27@gmail.com

Thank you Uhuru for sharing the inspiring work your youth-led organisation is doing to bring renewable energy solutions to the ASAL region in Kenya! 🌍💡

To help connect you with the right opportunities and contacts, it would be great to learn a bit more about your work. I would love to hear your answers to the following questions:

  1. Could you tell us a little more about your organisation’s structure (e.g. are you a registered NGO, a community-based organisation, or an informal youth network)?

  2. What specific kind of support you're currently looking for to scale your initiatives — for example, are you seeking funding, technical support, or help with proposal writing or storytelling?

  3. Whether you already have a concept note, pitch deck or short proposal that could be shared with potential partners or funders?

  4. And finally, a brief description of the communities you serve and how local youth are involved in shaping and implementing the projects?

Looking forward to learning more and seeing how our WildHub community can support your efforts! 👏

Dear Thirza,

Thank you for your response. Here is my response.

  1. Could you tell us a little more about your organization’s structure (e.g. are you a registered NGO, a community-based organization, or an informal youth network)?

Nyalore Community-Based Organization (Nyalore CBO) is formally a registered (Registration: cbo.2098/21) in Kenya with the Department of Social Development Office as a community-based organization.  We were officially registered in 2021 and are based in the arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) of Kenya. We work in Samburu and Homabay Counties in Kenya. Nyalore CBO is led by community volunteers, We focus on environmental conservation, climate education, sustainable water access, green energy innovations, and empowering communities through environmental education.

  1. What specific kind of support you're currently looking for to scale your initiatives — for example, are you seeking funding, technical support, or help with proposal writing or storytelling?

We are currently seeking financial support to scale our Solar Water Initiative (SWI) and expand its impact across more ASAL communities. Additionally, we welcome storytelling support to help us effectively communicate our journey, amplify community voices, and showcase the real-world impact of our work to potential partners, donors, and the wider public. We also run other initiatives such as a tree nursery, environmental education, and natural restoration of water sources.

  1. Whether you already have a concept note, pitch deck or short proposal that could be shared with potential partners or funders?

  1. And finally, a brief description of the communities you serve and how local youth are involved in shaping and implementing the projects?

The project focuses on rural communities in Samburu County, starting with Ledero, a village of 180 people, mainly pastoralists with low education levels. With 105 females, cultural norms make them responsible for water collection, exposing girls to violence, and school dropouts.
