An explorer and an aspirant biodiversity conservation researcher. I seek to delve deeper into the study of the human-nature nexus and strive to foster more harmonious coexistence. I have gained brief experience in wildlife conservation at the Creative Conservation Alliance, working with Western Hoolock Gibbons and a few other wild animals. I am also working as an Associate Trainer at Mekateam, a game-based pedagogy where I provide training on basic climate literacy and biodiversity conservation to youth. Moreover, I synthesize and express my understanding of biodiversity and the natural world through my initiative, 'Toru.' Currently, I am undertaking research on Asian Elephants addressing the human-elephant conflict in Bangladesh.

I have some experience with captive gibbons in a rehabilitation centre in Peninsular Malaysia. I am interested in the 4Rs of primate conservation: Research, Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Release. I would also like to incorporate the idea of ‘Reforest’ using primates into the 4Rs – making it 4R + 1R. I have prepared a research proposal for my Master’s study on “hormonal associations of allomaternal care” and I believe these findings can inform primate welfare and management of the rescued orphans (from the pet trade, etc.) by 1) increasing orphans’ survival rates, 2) increasing efficiency in rehab, and 3) increasing success rates post-release. I am currently looking for a(n) mentorship/advisor to support my proposal and supervise the research.

I specialise in communications and marketing for environmental charities, making ordinary people give a damn about and engage in environmental stories and campaigns - fuelling action and creating change. I work for an agency called more onion that helps progressive charities and non-profits have more impact through campaigns, fundraising and/or supporter engagement. My I love working with animal/environmental charities, as this is the area I'm most passionate about. I've worked for WWF, Greenpeace & Surfers Against Sewage, as well as grassroots organisations. As I'm neurodivergent, disabled, a carer and from a working class background, I'm passionate about making sure projects and campaigns are as inclusive as possible - we need everyone to change the world on the scale needed. Studying an MA in Anthrozoology part-time at Exeter (remote). My final project is studying vocalisations of critically endangered captive Javan Green Magpies and how we can use bioacoustics to inform welfare and understanding. I am a self employed veterinary nurse who works with a range of species from domestic to wildlife. As much as I enjoy my job, I feel I would like to use my skills to make more of a difference in the world. Starting my career in conservation I discovered a love for Asian Primates especially in Indonesia. Keen to network and gain as much knowledge and experience as I can to find a role that incorporates my conservation passions.

Primate researcher working on macaques. I am interested in social behaviour and anthropogenic drivers of behavioral change in macaques. My PhD focused on social behaviour in Nicobar long tailed macaques. I m currently working as a faculty in an arts and design college where I bring in the aspects of coexistence through arts and design.  I am seeking collaborative opportunities to further my research on macaques. 

My background is mainly in species conservation, education and capacity exchange. I researched mother-young interactions in gorillas and chimpanzees, in captivity and the wild. After that, I worked for three years in Indonesia, where I developed and implemented youth ambassador and community engagement programmes on local and regional scales. I co-founded WildHub, a community of nature conservation professionals, in 2020 and work as their Community Lead. I am furthermore on the Advisory Board of the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) at the University of Kent where I obtained my PhD on capacity development for conservation in 2022. 

I am Marjan Maria, a young and ambitious wildlife biologist also a proud mom to a baby girl from Bangladesh. I am passionate about conserving the biodiversity of my country and protecting its endangered species. I am particularly interested in the behavioral ecology of primates and herpetofauna. I have researched the Bengal slow loris, Phayre's langur, hoolock gibbon, and other endangered species in Bangladesh. I have also worked on developing conservation strategies for these species. I am also interested in the impacts of road infrastructure on wildlife. I am currently working on a project to study roadkill in primates and other animals in Bangladesh. I believe that wildlife conservation is essential for our planet's health and future generations' well-being. I am committed to working to protect the biodiversity of Bangladesh and to ensure that its wildlife can thrive for generations to come. I am eager to learn and grow.
