I’ve played sports since high school, so I joined a local softball league to stay in shape and meet new people in the area. I’m the captain of our team this year, so I ask my team to show up an hour early to warm up and run some plays before the game. I even helped a fellow team members improve their swing. I encourage everyone to communicate during the game and try to keep each player involved so they can get more experience. I want to be a leader in my next employment position, and my experience as a team captain has provided me with opportunities to conduct training and boost morale in tough situations.

Joined WCS 10 years ago, spent most of my time in the Congo Basin. Working on community development and social science, monitoring & evaluation, theories of change. Helping our teams to collect, manage & analyze data in the most efficient way. Member of the Conservation Measures Partnership and the Conservation Social Science Partnership. 

I am an ecologist with a B.S. from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I live in Watsonville, California in the United States (just south of Santa Cruz and San Francisco). I am currently searching for a job in western Oregon. The majority of my research experience is with small mammals from California, including mice from the genus Peromyscus. I completed a bachelor's thesis studying the range of the Santa Cruz kangaroo rat (Dipodomys venustus venustus). I worked for six months for the Resource Conservation District in California as a monitoring biologist on the Salinas River. We were working to control invasive Arundo donax plants and to control flooding by mowing overflow channels. I worked for nine months as a senior park aide for California State Parks in Santa Cruz County. I have some experience with ArcGIS from taking a university course, using it for my thesis, and using it to process data and produce maps for the Resource Conservation District. I am interested in gaining experience in 1) researching birds, mammals, and plants 2) land management such as ecosystem restoration and trail maintenance and 3) relevant computer software such as R Programming and QGIS. I am also interested in making connections with fellow ecologists in Oregon. I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, cooking, and making herbal forest tea. I also enjoy rock climbing and backpacking, although I am a newbie to both.

 I am a dedicated GIS Technician and Conservation Specialist with expertise in spatial analysis and wildlife conservation. Skilled in advanced GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, SMART, and Earth Ranger, i excels in translating raw data into actionable insights for ecological and biodiversity projects. 

I am currently the Leave Only Footprints Engagement Coordinator at BCP Council. Over the past few years, I have taken on a few different roles within the organisation, based at Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve following my BSc in Animal Behaviour and alongside completing my MSc in Biodiversity Conservation at Bournemouth University. Within my role, I engage with a wide range of people over a wide range of topics from litter to the local wildlife and habitats, with the aim of reducing negative behaviours and encouraging interest and passion for nature. I am also interested and have experience in collecting and analysing data around these subjects. I have previously held a role as a research assistant with Bournemouth University exploring the most effective ways/methods to engage young people with nature, through running focus groups and literature reviews. I have a special interest in the effect of being outdoors in nature on wellbeing, especially the bereaved, and have started a podcast called The Nature of Loss; sponsored by BCP Council.

My focus is on helping organisations to improve the quality of their learning provision for a sustainable future and enhance their ability to deliver projects effectively with lasting benefits. I have worked in over 30 countries with NGOs, government, business and civil society organisations. I established Wild Awake as a not-for-profit social enterprise. Its purpose is to develop and provide learning which inspires change towards a more sustainable planet, and support people to live healthy and happy lives which respect natural limits. It achieves this through providing learning which reconnects people with the natural world through first-hand experience. It brings educational expertise in terms of curriculum development, writing activities, training and consultancy in pursuit of this. I bring over 20 years of practical experience in the field of education, delivering a range of projects focusing on climate change and education for sustainable development. I have worked cross-sector with governments, civil society and academic partners to analyse, design and implement education programmes which address a sustainable future and empower people with hopeful solutions for their future. I bring a strong track record of delivering complex projects with diverse partners. This is supported by excellent technical knowledge of climate change, environmental management and sustainable development, backed by good communication skills to deliver effective messages. I am an Environmental Scientist and Marine Ecologist from Kenya, deeply passionate about addressing environmental challenges and empowering marginalized communities. My work focuses on climate change, marine conservation, coastal resilience, and climate adaptation and mitigation. As an MSc Coastal Science and Policy Fellow at the University of California, Santa Cruz, I am committed to working with young people and local communities to co-create climate adaptation strategies that integrate traditional knowledge with scientific insights, fostering inclusive and sustainable climate policies. Beyond science, I am a conservation storyteller and photographer, using powerful imagery to amplify the voices of coastal fishing communities and advocate for marine conservation and climate action. With over four years of experience in environmental advocacy, I strive to connect science, policy, and community engagement to develop innovative solutions for vulnerable ecosystems.

Have been involved in a variety of projects - Javan Silvery Gibbon, Tigers in India, and more recently water vole conservation in the UK. Currently run a landscape wide wetland restoration project in West Sussex on the south coast of the UK with water voles in mind but would love to just throw in a couple of European beavers and my job would be done!
