Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection (LCRP) is a Liberian NGO, collaborating with local and international partners in caring for current chimpanzee residents and the development of long term strategies to combat the illegal trade and conservation of chimpanzees and other protected wildlife. LCRP’s U.S. affiliate (501c3) is Partners in Animal Protection and Conservation.
Through LCRP, in direct partnership with Liberia’s Forestry Development Authority, captive chimpanzees are rescued and rehabilitated while our collaborative partnerships propel Liberia’s chimpanzee protection, education, and conservation initiatives forward.
Because we believe all wildlife and animal welfare issues are interconnected, LCRP supports broad based public awareness campaigns. We not only support chimpanzee related initiatives, but also vaccination and rabies control programs, emerging disease research, regulation development and conservation action planning. We engage a OneHealth approach in all work we conduct.
