Master in Animal Biology, with a deep interest in biodiversity conservation, restoration and climate change. Former collaborator of CoalitionWILD and the Global Rewilding Alliance. Former Coordinator of Actions and Partnerships at Plant-for-the-Planet Brazil and Co-Director at Youth Climate Leaders, currently working as a Climate Change Specialist at WWF-Brazil.
My background is mainly in Marketing and Communications. I work with a wonderful conservation organisation called Painted Dog Conservation based out in Zimbabwe just outside the country's biggest national park, the Hwange National Park. The organisation is doing the most in trying to bring back the endangered painted dog (aka African Wild Dog) from the brink of extinction. I work closely with most of our stakeholders from the local community to our international supporters with an aim to establish a seamless relationship between all those involved in saving the beautiful painted dog. I'm not an expert in the following but I work closely and alongside with people responsible (and sometimes participate in):
Species Management
Anti-Poaching
Research (tracking and monitoring of painted dogs)
Education
Community Engagement
Arts and Conservation
I am a Conservation Biology student studying BSc Honours Degree in Biology. I have been actively involved in wildlife conservation practices doing field research education and training in local schools.
I have spent my conservation career with a focus on supporting practitioner networks for community conservation and the conservation of charismatic megafauna. I serve as the Executive Director of the Painted Wolf Foundation, and continue to work with organisations like IIED, IUCN and organisations on the ground in Africa on the intersection between community conservation and combatting the illegal wildlife trade.
I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Development Studies, with Major in Agrarian, Food and Environmental Studies (Specialisation - Environment and Sustainable Development) from International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. I am a highly skilled Natural Resources Conservationist, Agricultural and International/Rural Development expert with 15years experience in developing, implementing and monitoring forestry and wildlife conservation programs; linking agribusiness to conservation, community empowerment and climate change mitigation and adaptation in Zambia. I have coordinated various programs with international donors including the World Food Program of the United Nations, UNDP, the World Bank, WWF and USAID among others, in Agriculture, climate change adaptation and mitigation and Natural Resources management. Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement and networking; coordinated projects and programs with the Zambian Government, local and international donors and other support stakeholders. Good skills in financial resource mobilization through proposal writing.
I am a hospitality management graduate with experience in different work fields and with a great passion for wildlife conservation and sustainability. My ambition is to establish a successful career in conservation and help contribute to making a positive change.
Ephraim Lombe is an experienced GIS and Natural Resources Management Specialist with a demonstrated history of working with local and International organizations in Conservation GIS and Remote Sensing, Community Based Natural Resources Management and Conservation Based IT. He possess a Degree of Bachelors of Science in Forestry from the Copperbelt University (Zambia) where he majored in Sustainable Natural Resource Management and a Cert in The Field of Technology, Communication and Transport from Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Finland). Currently he works in a multidisciplinary environment and strongly acknowledges communities (indigenous people's) vital role in sustainable management of natural resources through building their capacity in CBNRM & Governance, Participatory Land Use Planning for Secured Land Rights, Enterprise Development and Modeling Benefit Sharing Mechanisms in Natural Resources between and within the Government and Communities which are among the sources or catalysts of conflict, barriers or limits to human well-being.
I began my conservation journey as a community scout on a private conservancy run by Biocarbon Partners under the Lower Zambezi REDD+ Project. My role as a community scout was generally to enforce anti - poaching laws and rules that govern a REDD+ project.
It is from here that I rose through the ranks to the role of a conservation assistant under the Luangwa Community Forest Project. My role now, generally involves coordinating and facilitating ground patrol teams, aerial surveys, breach verifications and stakeholder engagement.
It is interesting to note the impact these projects have had not only on Biodiversity but also on communities where these project are base.
