Seeking Advice or Internship Opportunities in Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation
Dear WildHub Community, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Sarah Mshanga, and I hold a BSc in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture, based in Tanzania. After completing my undergraduate studies, I served as a Research Assistant with the Women in Conservation Organization (WICO) and the Greater Mahale Ecosystem Research and Conservation (GMERC) Project, where I gained experience in field data collection and processing, report writing, ecosystem monitoring, human-wildlife interaction, and the use of mobile data collection tools such as Kobo and ODK, as well as GPS and camera traps.
Additionally, I interned at Lion Landscapes Tanzania, where I focused on human-wildlife conflict mitigation and ecosystem monitoring, promoting coexistence with wildlife through educational workshops and outreach programs. I also participated in the Women in Conservation Technology Program at Grumet Fund, gaining experience with conservation technology tools. Furthermore, I learned project planning for wildlife conservation and monitoring and evaluation for wildlife conservation from WildTeam UK, which provided me with skills in project planning and monitoring and evaluation. I also possess skills in the Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART).
I am primarily interested in research and human-wildlife interaction, keen to leverage my career in human-wildlife conflict mitigation. I am seeking internship opportunities or positions that will allow me to apply my skills effectively. Any assistance or guidance in finding suitable opportunities would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
