Position: 3 PhD Positions in Marine Ecology
Entity: Castorani Lab, Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Description:
(1) PhD in Seagrass Community Ecology 

Focus: Biodiversity and community ecology of fishes and invertebrates in the world’s largest restored seagrass meadow at the Virginia Coast Reserve LTER.


(2 ) PhD in Oyster Reef Ecology

Focus: Population dynamics of oysters on restored reefs at the Virginia Coast Reserve LTER.


(3) PhD in Kelp Forest Community Ecology

Focus: Biodiversity and stability in kelp forest ecosystems at the Santa Barbara Coastal LTER.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, ecology, oceanography, fisheries, computer science, mathematics).
- Interests in respective ecosystems (seagrass, oyster reefs, or kelp forests) and restoration.
-Experience in field ecology and/or strong quantitative skills (e.g., data analysis, ecological modeling, scientific programming).
- Motivation to acquire necessary skills for the position.
