As an early-career conservationist, my focus lies in freshwater biodiversity conservation, particularly around freshwater turtles and tortoises. My Master’s thesis, which investigated the Indian Peacock Softshell Turtle in eastern Nepal, was supported by grants from the Turtle Conservation Fund and Chelonian Research Fund. I am also a Commission Member of the IUCN SSC Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group (2021–2025).

I am particularly interested in the intersection of conservation biology and community-based approaches to ensure sustainable, long-term conservation outcomes. Beyond research, I have skills in scientific writing, data analysis (using R and QGIS), and project management. I’m always eager to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for biodiversity and conservation efforts.

Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to collaborate or simply chat about conservation initiatives. I look forward to learning from and contributing to this community.

Best regards,
Asmita Ranapaheli
