Hello everyone.
I’m Judith Dekkers, originally from the Netherlands but now based in Arusha, Tanzania. A few years ago I pivoted from a career in commercial IT to nature conservation. In 2024 I founded Kumbe Biodiversity, a Tanzanian company that delivers biodiversity monitoring services. We train local students to deploy camera traps, sound sensors, and work with environmental‑DNA (eDNA). We process all DNA right here in country.
I’m always keen to meet fellow professionals working with these technologies, especially eDNA, where there is still so much to learn. Of course I can share our insights and experiences from Tanzania.
Looking forward to connect and explore how we can use cutting‑edge tools to safeguard biodiversity. Feel free to reach out!

Hi Judith,
Welcome to WILDHUB. It's wonderful to connect with someone applying cutting-edge tools like eDNA and sound sensors in biodiversity monitoring! Your work with Kumbe Biodiversity sounds inspiring, especially the emphasis on in-country training and processing. I’m currently based in Kenya and deeply interested in how these technologies are shaping conservation strategies across East Africa. I'd love to hear if Kumbe has any ongoing or upcoming projects in Kenya, or if you’ve collaborated with organizations here. Looking forward to learning from your experiences and exploring synergies!
A warm welcome to WildHub, it's great to have you join us Judith. I very much enjoyed exploring your website and reading how Kumbe Biodiversity came to be - indeed, it is never too late for a new beginning!
Welcome to WildHub, Judith! Applaud how you shifted from commercial IT to conservation.
I am from Bangladesh and keen to learn more about biodiversity monitoring services. This practice is not common here, if at all, yet it is crucial for the country, as it is gradually putting pressure on nature for infrastructure development. I saw several training programs on the website. But is it possible to conduct a basic training online for a starter? We can do that from WildHub and Kumbe Biodiversity, and I can get more Bangladeshi on board. What do you think? Let me know.
A warm welcome to WildHub Judith! Wonderful to have you join us and thank you for sharing about your background.
I would recommend joining our member Social events (dates here) which is a great way to get to know other members.
