Join Operation Wallacea as a Reef Ecology Lecturer
An exciting opportunity is now open for Reef Ecology Lecturers to join international field expeditions during the 2026 season.
This is a unique chance to combine teaching, field research, and hands-on conservation work in some of the world’s most biodiverse marine environments.
🐠 About the Role
Reef Ecology Lecturers support marine field programmes running between June and August, with placements lasting four to eight weeks. Expeditions take place across a range of tropical and Mediterranean locations in Central America, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
This is an immersive, field-based position where you’ll work directly with students, researchers, and expedition staff.
🎓 What You’ll Be Doing
Successful applicants will:

Deliver engaging lectures on reef ecology and marine conservation

Run interactive workshops and field briefings

Teach coral reef survey techniques and in-water methodologies

Mentor and inspire students participating in active conservation research

Contribute to meaningful long-term biodiversity monitoring projects

👩🔬 Who It’s For

Graduates (BSc or higher) in marine biology, ecology, or related disciplines
