Saving Wildcats Data Volunteer @RZSS
Saving Wildcats (#SWAforLife) is a European partnership project dedicated to Scottish wildcat conservation and recovery. They aim to prevent the extinction of wildcats in Scotland by breeding and releasing them into the wild. The project is funded by EU LIFE and led by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) alongside partner organisations NatureScot, Forestry and Land Scotland, Cairngorms National Park Authority, Norden’s Ark and Junta de Andalucía. Please visit the project website for more information: www.savingwildcats.org.uk.
Saving Wildcats is now seeking a volunteer to assist the In-situ Conservation (field) team with handling and analysing camera trap survey data (images and excel spreadsheets). Camera trap data analysis will primarily include the classification of a large number of survey images using the programme DigiKam. The data volunteer will also have the opportunity to be trained in tracking the released wildcats, supporting the Field Team with this activity when the need arises. As well as, potentially, assisting with other field-based activities.
This is a full-time position in office hours (Monday-Friday between 09:00-17:30). The position will be available for five to six months (depending on the successful candidate’s availability).
