Margaret Wangui Muriuki

Tutorial fellow, Karatina University

I am an expert in tourism and environmental conservation, with a Masters in Wildlife Conservation. I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Management and Governance at the University of Nairobi. My current research project is on human-lion conflict. I believe that successful integration of conservation, tourism, and livestock keeping is only possible if each form of land use is given equal attention. Governance arrangements that are based on the local community are likely to be more fruitful in achieving win-win outcomes. I am a lecturer of sustainable tourism and environmental conservation at Karatina University. My greatest passion is to see sustainable development for economies that are based on natural resources. I mobilize people to invest and undertake activities that provide solutions to everyday challenges like energy-saving appliances while at the same time helping combat climate change and global warming in the long term.

Marine Hermange

Scientific animation, Institut oceanographique of Monaco

Passionate about biodiversity conservation, I recently completed a Master’s degree in Environmental Management at Brunel University in London, where I deepened my understanding of environmental strategies and sustainable management. My academic and professional background has allowed me to develop both a scientific and operational approach to conservation, with a growing specialization in marine ecosystem protection and environmental project management. After completing a six-month internship at the Wildlife Aid Foundation (WAF) in England—where I contributed to wildlife rehabilitation efforts and public awareness campaigns—I joined the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco as a Scientific Animator. This role enables me to combine scientific communication with public engagement, helping to raise awareness about the critical challenges facing marine conservation. The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, founded by Prince Albert I, is a world-renowned center for ocean protection and environmental education. Through my role, I have the opportunity to translate complex scientific concepts into engaging educational experiences, interact with an international audience, and contribute to the museum’s essential mission: to inspire action for the preservation of the ocean and its biodiversity. In parallel, my experience in event management, particularly as a wedding and corporate event supervisor, has helped me develop key skills in team leadership, organization, and coordination. These competencies are directly transferable to my professional goal: becoming a Marine Conservation Project Manager, specializing in species recovery programs and the management of marine protected areas. As a passionate scuba diver (Level 1) and holder of a boating license, my connection to the marine environment extends beyond my professional activities—it is at the core of my personal commitment. Exploring underwater ecosystems further fuels my determination to protect marine species and their habitats.
Aliyah Pandolfi

Executive Director, Kashmir World Foundation

My journey into wildlife protection began with a cat named Cheekoh, whom I adopted while in Costa Rica. Cheekoh wasn’t just a pet—he was the catalyst that opened my eyes to the incredible world of wildlife. Through him, I met my husband, and we quickly realized we shared a deep love for animals and a shared vision: to protect endangered species. That love for animals, sparked by Cheekoh, became the foundation for everything I do today. Together, my husband and I have dedicated our lives to using our technical skills—my background in innovation and his expertise in technology—to help protect endangered species. Our journey, from adopting Cheekoh to creating innovative solutions for wildlife protection, has been a story of love, learning, and commitment. I’m thrilled to share this passion with others, especially the next generation of conservationists.  As the Executive Director of Kashmir World Foundation, I lead a dedicated team focused on wildlife protection and conservation. We use cutting-edge technologies to combat poaching and safeguard endangered species. With a robust network of scientists, researchers, and conservationists, KwF is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to protect wildlife, utilizing AI, drones, and other advanced technologies. Through global collaboration, we create new strategies to monitor ecosystems, prevent illegal activities, and ensure a sustainable future for our planet's most vulnerable species.
