Wiem Boussellaa is a dedicated marine biologist researcher from Tunisia, specializing in marine conservation and the management of marine ecosystems. With a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences, Wiem has contributed significantly to projects aimed at preserving marine life. Currently, as a postdoctoral researcher at the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn in Naples, Italy, their work focuses on the energy expenditure and ecology of sea turtles during swimming. Wiem has held key roles in various marine conservation projects, including the Life MedTurtles project at the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax and the Deep Blue project with OGS. As a member of the Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI) and a project manager for the Tunisian Taxonomy Association (ATUTAX), Wiem has actively participated in the fight against ghost fishing and has been instrumental in developing a National Code of Conduct for Ghost Gear Management in Tunisia. Throughout their career, Wiem has authored several publications on marine ecosystems and conservation and has been recognized for several innovative contributions to the field. With extensive experience in project management, scientific research, and international collaboration, they continue to drive impactful conservation efforts within the Mediterranean region.

I have designed and instructed field courses in East & Southern Africa from 2 weeks to a month and as I absolutely love this, I continue to do this as a freelancer for universities whenever needed. I worked and still work with with ShareScreen Africa to curate FREE learning experiences through guest speakers. We are still at the very beginning of our journey and have many a plan in store for students hungry for more knowledge and experiential tales from those working in the field. I am working as a Teaching Fellow at the African Wildlife Economies Institute to curate an online learning experience in conservation business and leadership (I am not contributing to content but to dissemination of content). My focus here is the learning management platform and the community we can build that will be full of ideas and new perspectives. The idea with all I do, virtual and in-person, field and classroom based, is to deepen the understanding of leadership amongst our learners, to drive a personal and professional journey in learning that has both vision and ‘future hindsight’. The focus of the learning does not come from the teacher but through knowledge empowerment – peers, online resources, structured and unstructured workshops, projects and using other innovative forms of assessment. I am a recent MS graduate in Zoology from Central Department of Zoology. I have an expertise of proposal and thesis writing, project design and management. I have an experience of working as a consultant under the project 'Community based red panda conservation in Nepal. Furthermore, I have also volunteered in several other projects which include Nepal crocodile conservation fair and Illegal trade of pangolin. I am really interested in research via publication and education via involving community for the conservation.  

I founded West African Conservation Network or WACN, and we signed a 31 year MOU with the Nigeria National Park Service on the 27th of October 2023 to co-manage the Kainji Lake National Park in Nigeria.   Kainji has had 65 species of mammals documented including lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, hippos, among numerous other species.

I am an environmentalist with a diploma in Forestry and Wildlife, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Oceanography, specializing in aquatic ecosystem management. I began my career with the development association, Alternatives Durables pour le Développement (ADD), where I successfully led several environmental and agricultural projects over a span of five years. Recently, I have taken on a new role as a grant writer at Sekakoh Organization, where I continue to apply my expertise in advancing impactful environmental and biodiversity conservation initiatives.

Mankgodi Hlongwane is currently employed as a senior biodiversity and conservation specialist at the City of Ekurhuleni municipality. Serving in the department of Environmental Resource and Waste Management within the Environmental Protection, Resilience and Project Management division. In this role, Mankgodi’s main job purpose is to contribute to the planning, development and coordination of environmental conservation policies and practices, providing sound advice and support in natural resource management. She has over 20 years’ experience in the biodiversity sector. Mankgodi holds BSc Honours in Environmental Management; National Diploma in Nature Conservation; Masters in Governance in the field of public sector monitoring and evaluation. She is currently MSc candidate with a research focus on invasive alien species. Mankgodi has a wide range of experience in environmental management, rehabilitation of ecosystems, wildlife management, stakeholder engagement, protection of natural resources, adapt to and implement changes in policy, laws, regulations, initiatives, and relevant industry practices, making recommendations accordingly as well as provide input into governance and risk management processes, systems, and legislation within biodiversity sector. 

I am an expert in tourism and environmental conservation, with a Masters in Wildlife Conservation. I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Management and Governance at the University of Nairobi. My current research project is on human-lion conflict. I believe that successful integration of conservation, tourism, and livestock keeping is only possible if each form of land use is given equal attention. Governance arrangements that are based on the local community are likely to be more fruitful in achieving win-win outcomes. I am a lecturer of sustainable tourism and environmental conservation at Karatina University. My greatest passion is to see sustainable development for economies that are based on natural resources. I mobilize people to invest and undertake activities that provide solutions to everyday challenges like energy-saving appliances while at the same time helping combat climate change and global warming in the long term.

As a dedicated Fisheries officer, I am  at the forefront of preserving aquatic ecosystems and ensuring the sustainability of fish populations. My role involves a balance of fieldwork and strategic planning. On a typical day, i might be patrolling lakes, rivers, or coastal areas, ensuring that fishers comply with regulations such as catch limits and licensing requirements. My keen eye for detail allows me to detect and address illegal fishing activities effectively. I have an experience of 5 years in the Fisheries sector as a manager and 2 years in  Research with keen interests in environment restoration and biodiversity conservation in African Great Lakes and beyond 

I am a Conservation biologist and Ornithologist with interest on impact of anthropogenic activities on biodiversity and how to mitigate this effects.

I am a passionate conservationist with six years of experience in the field. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Biodiversity Conservation at Chinhoyi University of Technology and serve as the Acting Head of the Biodiversity Monitoring and Ecosystem Services Department at My Trees Trust. In this role, I manage conservation projects across our three leased areas: Charara Safari Area, Tsetse Island, and Gache Kanyati Community Conservancy. I have a keen interest in modern conservation technologies, including EarthRanger, SMART, GIS, QGIS, and AI Camera Traps. My primary focus is on integrating traditional conservation practices with these innovative technologies to enhance our conservation efforts and promote sustainable practices.
