I have 8 years working experience in Sustainable Forestry, Fisheries, Wildlife Management and general Community based natural resources management (CBNRM) working in the North Luangwa National Park of Zambia. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife management and Biology and a Master’s degree in Climate Change and sustainable development. Currently, I am supporting the WeForest Zambia team in the implementation of the Luangwa livelihoods and conservation Activity project based in Mpika, Muchinga Province. I am based in the North Luangwa National Park Landscape, North Eastern Zambia.

I am an Ecologist with experience in Environmental Biology. I work with the National Center for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology (NACGRAB) based in Nigeria. I am passionate about environmental pollution assessment and evaluation, especially concerning land, water, and living organisms. At NACGRAB, I have been given the responsibility of using Tissue Culture Methods to conserve the economic and endangered plant biodiversity of Nigeria. I am a wildlife ecologist based in Kenya specialized in community involvement in conservation practices.  

My area of interest in primate behaviors, not only because I have a background in zoology and conservation but also as someone who spent most of my time with primates. Moreover, I have some skills related to people vs wildlife conflict around PAs. currently, I'm working as a research assistant in mountain gorilla behavior data collection at Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund | Rwanda.

My research focus is the cultural and utilitarian ways rural communities value wildlife with a focus on endangered apes in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I used mixed methods including doing interviews with community members and reconnaissance walks in adjacent village forests. My goal is to work for a conservation organization that partners with communities to find conservation solutions and implement initiatives that benefit both people and animals relevant to the local context.

I am Sandra, a Conservation Technologist experienced in the use of GIS technologies like QGIS, EarthRanger software, Google Earth Pro in the collection, manipulation and delivery of geographic data to enable evidence-based decision-making in wildlife and habitat monitoring in the Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth and Kidepo Valley National parks in Uganda as well as MS Project. My love for wildlife conservation and habitat management as well as travelling new places leads me to appreciate our surroundings and the need to protect them.
