I'm a dedicated field ecologist and biological scientist with a strong academic foundation and hands-on experience in conservation, ecological data analysis, and sustainability. With an MSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Amsterdam and a BSc from the University of York, I bring a global perspective and a deep respect for nature rooted in my upbringing in Zambia.
My work spans diverse ecological projects—from predator-prey behavior under artificial light to long-term vegetation monitoring using GIS and remote sensing. I’ve contributed to field research in Zambia’s Kafue National Park, mapped grazer impacts in the Dutch dunes, and supported customer knowledge systems at a biotech startup. Whether I’m analyzing habitat data, writing scientific reports, or improving internal operations, I’m committed to promoting biodiversity and sustainable practices.
Skilled in R, ArcGIS, ecological monitoring, and scientific communication, I enjoy bridging the gap between science and society. I’m currently contributing to conservation in the Netherlands while also supporting operational systems at Purovitalis. I aim to make a positive, lasting impact on environmental stewardship wherever I go.

I am a Dutch tropical field ecologist living in Colombia, working as a Project Manager for the NGO Fundación ProAves. In this role, I focus on securing funding for a wide range of conservation initiatives across the country and beyond. My work allows me the privilege of frequently visiting ProAves’ 27 nature reserves spread throughout Colombia’s diverse ecosystems.
As an ecologist, my interests span multiple disciplines, including botany, geology, and soil science. However, my true passion lies in zoology, especially birds, primates, and herpetofauna. Over the years, I’ve conducted extensive scientific fieldwork throughout the Neotropics during numerous internships and expeditions. That deep connection to the region’s biodiversity ultimately led me to stay and dedicate my life to conserving the extraordinary species and habitats of what is truly the land of birds.
A conservationist in the making trying to blend in the conservation society.

Hello everyone 🤗,
I am Abomo Marthe Phannel, I am a passionate and results-driven young conservationist with a Master's degree in Natural Resources Management and a Bachelor's degree in Physical Geography. With over two years of hands-on experience in the field, I have contributed to climate action and biodiversity conservation projects across Cameroon. My areas of expertise include wildlife identification, ecotourism, community engagement, stakeholder engagement, program coordination, and partnership development.
I had the opportunity to work with reputable organizations like the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), where I contributed to species monitoring through advanced tools like camera traps, acoustics sensors and GIS mapping. I am currently working with African Voices for African Forests, where I am in charge of strategic partnerships and the organization of impactful networking events.
Bilingual in French and English, and proficient in digital tools, I am committed to advancing environmental sustainability through inclusive and collaborative approaches.
For the last 8 years I have been involved in planning for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services, ecological restoration and monitoring of flora and fauna throughout Chile and Europe.
The last time I have dedicated to expand my knowledge in ecology towards aquatic ecosystems, acquiring tools in scientific diving, coastal planning and bioacoustics.
