Lydia is a seasoned conservation educator,majorly training learners in primary and secondary schools in Kenya. She is also a social mobilizer and trainer at community workshops, training on conservation of wildlife,wetlands,forests and savannahs. Lydia is very intrigued by wildlife and water related research, prompting her to carry out biodiversity research with Nature Kenya's herpetology,youth and ornithology working groups on a rolling basis. She is also a member of Nature Kenya under HARI and youth working groups.As an educator,she has interacted with at least 100 schools in the last two years during ecological visits to different forests,wetlands and national parks, teaching them about different issues on environmental conservation. I joined this platform to learn how to write compelling proposals for funding,network and face my fear of grant writing.

"I'm Vincent Xaler Lemayian, a conservationist with a strong background in biodiversity protection. I studied journalism but later developed a passion for protecting natural ecosystems. For the last 8 years, I have been working at The Wildlife Foundation as a conservancy manager at the Naretunoi community conservancy.  Over the years, I've worked on habitat restoration, wildlife monitoring and biodiversity assessment. Currently, I'm involved in a giraffe identification program to help conserve the iconic Maasai giraffe in the Nairobi National Park ecosystem. My goal is to continue making a positive impact by working with schools to improve on conservation education.

I am dedicated to advancing shark science and conservation through my role in Outreach and Engagement at The Shark Trust. My work is aimed at making shark science and conservation accessible to everyone! I work in our communications team, supporting community fundraisers, running citizen science events at local beaches, designing infographics or documents that support our conservation work, delivering our schools education programme, working with other organisations on how we communicate about shark conservation through education workshops and webinars, assisting with running events/conferences, hosting the Shark Trust Podcast, and running our social media accounts. I'm a graduate of MSc Marine Conservation from the University of Plymouth (2021/22). My research focused on utilising Blue Social Prescribing to enhance accessibility to the marine environment for individuals impacted by their mental health and/or poverty. I explored the subsequent impact on pro-ocean behaviour, emphasising the crucial intersection of environmental and mental wellbeing. Beyond my conservation pursuits, I bring a wealth of experience as a Qualified Mental Health Nurse, Phlebotomist, and Suicide Prevention Trainer. My professional journey includes roles as a Band 5 Nurse in Secure Services (forensics), Adult Acute, Psychiatric Intensive Care, a Clozapine Phlebotomy Clinic, and Perinatal Mental Health Services. And as a Clinical Team Leader (Band 6) in Rehabilitation Services for adults experiencing psychosis.

An explorer and an aspirant biodiversity conservation researcher. I seek to delve deeper into the study of the human-nature nexus and strive to foster more harmonious coexistence. I have gained brief experience in wildlife conservation at the Creative Conservation Alliance, working with Western Hoolock Gibbons and a few other wild animals. I am also working as an Associate Trainer at Mekateam, a game-based pedagogy where I provide training on basic climate literacy and biodiversity conservation to youth. Moreover, I synthesize and express my understanding of biodiversity and the natural world through my initiative, 'Toru.' Currently, I am undertaking research on Asian Elephants addressing the human-elephant conflict in Bangladesh.
