Hello there! My name is Dillon Hanson-Ahumada and I am a conservation advocate and lover of all things wild. I recently graduated with a degree in conservation biology and environmental studies and currently work for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). At NRDC I work to protect our oceans by focusing on issues including protecting marine mammals, combatting illegal fishing, conserving sharks, helping to advance strategies to fight ocean plastic pollution, and serving as a liaison to community and grassroots groups fighting offshore oil and gas production. Prior to joining NRDC, HI worked on sustainability issues for the public-school system in Lincoln, NE, and was a part of the climate and energy team within the Wilderness Society. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, skiing, wildlife photography, and meeting new people. I am currently based in San Francisco, CA.

I joined WildHub because of my passion for environmental conservation and my interest in connecting with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to protecting and preserving our planet's biodiversity. I have a degree in veterinary medicine and a deep-rooted interest in One Health approaches that recognize the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. My experiences in veterinary medicine have underscored the importance of holistic approaches to conservation that consider the health of both wildlife and human populations. Additionally, I have been a lifelong fan of wildlife, and I am eager to deepen my understanding of this field through engagement with the vibrant community here on WildHub. Expertise: As a Civil Engineer, my expertise lies in a wide array of areas within the discipline. I have a strong foundation in structural engineering, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, and geotechnical engineering. My proficiency extends to designing and overseeing the construction of various infrastructural projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Interests: My passion for civil engineering extends beyond the professional sphere. I am deeply interested in sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in the construction industry. Exploring innovative technologies and techniques to minimize the environmental impact of projects is a priority for me. Additionally, I am keen on staying updated with the latest advancements in the field to enhance my knowledge and skills continually. Experience: Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working on diverse projects, ranging from residential and commercial buildings to transportation networks and environmental projects. I have been involved in project planning, design, implementation, and management, gaining valuable experience in team coordination, budget management, and client satisfaction. Moreover, I have a track record of successfully leading teams to deliver projects on time and within budget while adhering to quality standards.

I am a biologist and work as a mammals expert and project manager (interested more in large carnivores research and conservation, such as brown bear, wolf, and Balkan lynx) at PPNEA NGO, in Albania. I have experience in monitoring and researching endangered species such as the Balkan lynx. Since 2015, I am coordinating the Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme in Albania. Also, in 2021,  I completed the MAVA Leaders for Nature Academy.

Hi Everyone, My name is Arielle and I'm so excited for this course! I'm a wildlife conservationist but currently build online education programs for students and teachers for an international private school. My conservation work began in college while interning for the Wildlife Medical Center at my university's school of veterinary medicine. I originally went to university to become a large animal veterinarian, to fulfill my childhood dream of working with horses. However, after working with wild animals for three years, I decided to dedicate my life to species conservation and education. Upon graduation, I headed south to work for one of America's largest wildlife rescues and sanctuaries. I started as an Apprentice and worked my way up from there to an Animal Caretaker, and then to the Apprentice Program Supervisor and Training Specialist. I loved my job and my alarm clock was the roaring of a lion and lioness at dawn. I found the education aspect of the job to be the most rewarding. It was exciting to see my apprentices get inspired by what they learned and to see wildlife conservation efforts migrate into different parts of the world once my apprentices graduated from their programs. I have undergone many transitions in my career since then to accommodate all things life. Working as a teacher in schools and online has filled my education "cup", so to speak. But now, I have the opportunity to return to my career in wildlife conservation. I am whole-heartedly ready to start making a global impact one project at a time. I hope to not only gain the tools, resources, and certifications I need to effectively lead teams in wildlife conservation, but also to become a part of this amazing community. Hello! I am a Research Lead for the Bat Conservation Program at the Toronto Zoo, located in Ontario, Canada. I am currently leading a project studying a maternity colony of Little Brown myotis bats, which is an endangered species in Canada. Although I work with bats at the moment, my background is primarily in avian research. For my Master's, I studied Wood thrushes and how nest concealment may influence nest success in this threatened species. I have also lead a fieldwork team studying the critically endangered Eastern loggerhead shrike for a summer. I volunteer much of my time bird banding and assisting with the nation-wide migration monitoring program. Although my background is primarily in birds, I have a strong passion for wildlife and nature in general!
