About Teresa Muthoni
My background is in community-led landscape restoration, women’s leadership, and climate resilience across Africa. I currently serve as the Africa Programs Manager at the Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA), where I lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of regional programs that strengthen women’s leadership in ecosystem restoration, climate justice, and sustainable development. In this role, I co-develop multi-year strategies, oversee monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems, mentor grassroots partners, and drive partnerships that advance environmental resilience and gender equality.
Over the past decade, I have worked with organizations such as the Green Belt Movement, the International Tree Foundation, and One Tree Planted, where I managed national and continental reforestation programs and championed gender integration in conservation.
I am also the Co-founder and Biocultural Restoration Advisor at Homegrown Sustainability Solutions, an initiative that bridges traditional knowledge and modern practices to foster regenerative, community-led restoration in Kenya and beyond.
As a Registered Environmental Impact Assessment and Audit Lead Expert with advanced qualifications in project planning and environmental science, I am passionate about connecting local wisdom with global action—ensuring that women, youth, and communities remain at the heart of Africa’s regenerative future.
