Hi!
I'm Ashling, an MSc Wild Animal Biology graduate with two years of experience in academic publishing. During this time, I have gained invaluable insights and skills in this field, however, I am now eager to align my professional experience, academic background, and passion for conservation.
I have a strong interest in animal behaviour and conversation. I would be keen to further my experience in undertaking and carrying out behavioural research projects in the field. I am also keen to develop my skills in wildlife project management.
I hope to one day be a behavioural and welfare researcher at a zoo to contribute to meaningful conservation efforts and apply my existing expertise while continually learning and growing my skills.
In my free time, I love to go on hikes, horse ride, scuba dive, read, and crochet.
Somoye Olawale John
Principal Zoo Curator, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta Zoological Park
I am Somoye Olawale John, a dedicated wildlife management professional with over a decade of experience in the field. My journey in wildlife conservation began with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Applied Zoology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, where I developed a deep interest in the intricate dynamics of animal populations and their ecosystems. This passion led me to pursue a Master of Wildlife Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Currently, I serve as the Principal Zoo Curator at FUNAAB Zoo Park, a role I have held since 2021. In this capacity, I oversee animal husbandry standards, museum keeping, and taxidermy, as well as the construction and maintenance of zoo facilities. My responsibilities also include research, training, and mentoring students, capturing and restraining zoo animals, and administering care and treatment to the animals. Before this role, I was the Zoo Curator, where I gained extensive experience in animal care, facility maintenance, and visitor engagement.
My professional interests lie in wildlife ecology, with a particular focus on primate population dynamics and foraging behavior. I have contributed to several research projects and publications, including studies on ectoparasites of domestic dogs and antimicrobial resistance in non-human primates.
I am an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Society for Environmental Conservation (NSEC), Wildlife Management Society of Nigeria (WISON), Nigeria Association of Zoo Gardens and Parks (NAZAP), and the Zoological Society of Nigeria (ZSN). These affiliations keep me connected with the latest developments and best practices in wildlife conservation and management.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, meeting new people, and playing chess. I am excited to be a part of the WildHub community and look forward to exchanging knowledge, ideas, and experiences with fellow conservation enthusiasts.

I am Arefine. I am an anchor & reciter. In between my studies in zoology, I am involved in extra curricular activities. I focus on field studies since my undergraduate studies. Field study alone and observing became my addiction. Photography was also added to this addiction. Although watching nature, observing animals is my passion, the thought of working on a specific subject did not come to my mind. After that, I started working at the marginal level with snakebite patients during the Corona period. Then I chose calligraphy as a means of awareness to reach people quickly. Although I did not give priority to online then, I later built my organization called Kundali Foundation. Under the banner of this organization, i started the work of conveying the message of awareness to people called 'Be Aware Of Snake'. I was able to deliver my message to 495 upazilas of Bangladesh. The war is still going on because the fear of snakes has not died down among people.
I am a Malawian, a graduate from the University of Malawi, a passionate young climate activist, a founder and executive director of a nascent environmental leadership organization, Resilient-Gen. I have profound experience in community mobilization, community engagement not to mention resource mobilization. I love all things green!!
I have over 30 years' experience working in conservation, often at the interface with sustainable development. I have led teams, programmes, and sometimes thinking, at, amongst others, WWF, ZSL and Save the Rhino International. I have a lot of experience of conceiving, designing, implementing and evaluating conservation strategies and interventions. I have a particular interest in identifying and trying to answer some of the 'big' questions around conservation in the 21st century.
I am a disaster scientist and practitioner, focusing on disaster risk reduction, especially with respect to sustainable living, biodiversity, and regenerative forestry and agriculture. I would love to hear from anyone interested in contributing to this intersection.
I Julius Saitore am working in tourism industry recently but before I worked with two of conservation and sustainability organisations
I volunteered with Jane Goodall's institute as school coordinator whereby I gave education to students and youth about the importance to conserve environment and enabling them to undertakes actions by planting trees in their areas
Secondly I volunteered at Project rose as educational coordinator whereby the main goal for the organisation was to see the sustainable community by provide them with education with fully funded scholarship
Not only that to be a safari guide means you travel alot to different destinations for exploration and make an interesting point to the tourists for me travelling with people is a spreading of the importance of conservation whenever I meet anybody I just employ "trash in and trash out" wherever i go with tourist the purpose is to try to be kind to the environment and wildlife in places but to make a better world and enjoyable for everyone's in a future
I do like mostly walking safari than other form of tourism activities that's because it is justly friendly to nature.

I am a graduate of Forestry and Environmental Management from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Nigeria, with a strong interest in wildlife conservation, biodiversity, ornithology, forestry, and environmental sustainability. I am passionate about understanding and protecting natural ecosystems and hope to build a career that combines field-based conservation, ecological research, environmental management, and community engagement.
My academic training provided me with foundational knowledge and practical experience in areas including forest management, wildlife ecology, biodiversity conservation, nursery management, seed technology, plantation establishment, environmental management, and ecological field surveys. These experiences have strengthened my interest in applying scientific knowledge to real-world environmental and conservation challenges.
I have gained additional practical exposure through participation in conservation and biodiversity initiatives, including the Nigerian Bird Atlas Project (NiBAP) under the A.P. Leventis Ornithological Research Institute (APLORI). I have also volunteered with the Biodiversity Preservation Center (BPC), Uyo, contributing to biodiversity awareness, environmental education, and conservation-related activities.
I am particularly interested in ornithology, wildlife monitoring, ecological research, habitat conservation, and technology in environmental management. My training in remote sensing and snakebite management has strengthened my field research and environmental monitoring skills. I also actively document biodiversity through wildlife observation, photography, plant cultivation, and bird monitoring and contribute to iNaturalist, where I continue to learn through citizen science and collaboration with naturalists globally.
I am open to cooperation, research, internships, fellowships, scholarships, training, and more academic possibilities as I start my career. Working with researchers, conservation groups, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and other groups that promote environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation excites me.
I am currently looking for possibilities to obtain more experience, contribute to meaningful conservation work, further my professional development, and become a competent wildlife and environmental conservation specialist. 🦁🐍🦅🌳
