Fieldwork Opportunity, the Arctic Fox Project (Sweden)
Almost hunted to extinction in the 20th century, today the arctic fox is an endangered species in Scandinavia. We only have a few hundred individuals left in the wild, now also threatened by climate change.
In the 1980s, researchers at Stockholm University started the Arctic Fox Project to try and give the Scandinavian arctic fox a brighter future. That's where you come in! Every year the Arctic Fox Project recruits volunteers to help with fieldwork in beautiful northern Sweden. No special skills are required but keep in mind that fieldwork in northern Sweden is no walk in the park. You'll be walking through the arctic tundra anything between 10-20 Km a day with a heavy backpack on and you'll be sleeping in a tent for a few weeks. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for outdoorsy conservationists!
