I am Richard N. Sam, hailing from West Africa, specifically Liberia. At the Sustainable Development Institute (SDI), I work on forest, land, and mining issues, as well as corporate governance, ensuring accountability for ESG impacts by multinationals and governments. Importantly, inclusion and participation of local communities in natural resource management decision making, equitable benefit sharing, protecting community rights, tackling drivers of deforestation, improving civic space, natural resource policy influencing and reforms, biodiversity conservation, just energy transition, among others.
