I joined WILHUB to meet and network with fellow environmentalist from different regions. I am an aspiring carbon accountant with special skills in GIS and natural resource economics. Currently i am focused on ecosystem restoration in my home country of Zimbabwe. You're welcome Phakamani, good to have you join us. I'm curious to know how far your Country Zimbabwe has progressed in the Carbon credits space; strategies, policies, implementation?
Thank you Grace,
Zimbabwe has taken significant steps by introducing a framework to guide carbon projects last year. The government has also recently signed deals with investors for restoration initiatives, and we anticipate to witness more restoration projects unfold throughout this decade.
Despite encountering challenges, particularly with the renowned REDD project like Kariba REDD, I am optimistic about the future. I foresee a notable increase in the number of projects in 2024, signaling a positive trend in the carbon credits landscape.
As a professional in the NGO sector we intend to use fuel efficient stoves and other cleaner sources for carbon credit projects.
Thank you for sharing Phakamani.
A warm welcome to the community Phakamani!
How did you find out about our community, if I may ask? Amazing that you have already been able to co-publish an insight piece together with @Ussi Abuu Mnamengi during your first few weeks of membership!
Perhaps of interest to you is the opportunity to join our WildHub Conservation Catalyst programme; quite a few of our members have benefitted from participating. More information about that here and also feel free to email me about it on hello@wildhub.community :)
