Orca Love Letters
Hello All,
I’ve been connected to Orca my whole life. I first encountered one when I was 10 years old. His name was Wizard, a J-Pod member, and he swam right next to my boat; I could see its entire body, his pectoral fin gliding under my feet. Last year in Portugal, my boat was bumped by 2 juvenile males, and I’m back in Portugal again. When I was in the Canary Islands, I found out that captive Orca are held in Tenerife.
I know Orca are highly intelligent with deep family bonds, and that their suffering (physical and psychological) in captivity is well documented. I also firmly believe that we must respect animals to improve the human-Nature relationship.
I cannot stay silent. So I’m starting Orca Love Letters, a global letter-writing campaign where people mail their letters to corporate heads every year on World Orca Day until the last Orca is released to sanctuary.
Please take this concept note back to your respective organisations and let me know about any collaboration possibilities—even if it’s only you and a pen.
I wish I could tell you I have funding, but I don't. This is my passion project. I hope next year we will have some funding through nonprofit partners.
With Gratitude.
