About Tara A. Pierce
I'm an art activist who went to law school and developed my own sustainability consulting business based on uniting human activity with habitat. My two areas of focus are Nature- and place-based programming and project development that emphasise community leadership; additionally, I offer workshops to organisations to rethink what "sustainability" means in their sector, helping them think beyond buzzwords and transform their work into tangible, positive action.

Hi Everyone,
I recently started my own sustainability consulting business because several nonprofits want to work with me on Restorative Ocean Farms (ROFs) across the UK, EU, and USA. A Restorative Ocean Farm is a polyculture, vertical underwater garden made up of native species. The short-term and long-term benefits are vast, the barriers to entry are low, and they are place-based. Philosophically, the idea is to remember that people are nature, and to act as a responsible species in our ecosystem by uniting human activity with habitat so that all life flourishes. This often means reviving traditional cultural practices that are inherently sustainable, while empowering communities through the creation of sustainable business networks centred around the ROF (fork to table, farm tours, land-and-sea farm collaborations, etc.) and educational opportunities for all ages. A long-term goal of several of my clients is to showcase Restorative Ocean Farms as evidence that ecocentric law and policy are central to addressing the poly-crisis; that way, we can support the spread of holistic, equitable living through systemic change.
If you want to know more, here is a link to a YouTube I created while painting an example of a cold-water restorative ocean farm--but yes, there are plenty of possibilities for tropical ROFs as well! This is from my personal channel, but I will be creating a more professional slide-show type video as well, hopefully by the end of the year.
This is a smaller watercolour I did years ago. The video is a much larger painting with more details about the benefits and community engagement.

If you would like to collaborate in any capacity, please let me know. I'm currently searching for funding for several potential sites.
Cheers,
