Hi all,
I am a passionate freelance conservationists and for the last 14 years, I have been working independently and at times in teams for various organizations. I have developed a series of networks that are cross cutting in nature and this has built my resilience and enthusiasm to work successfully on multidisciplinary projects. I am a proactive quick learner with tangible registered successes across board. Therefore, joining wildhub fraternity with the expectation of demonstrating how meaningful networks can benefit and save mother nature through experience sharing among others.
Speciality
Interpretative solutions in aerial imaging for wildlife survey, land use, human, automobile and machine learning (ML). I specialize in interpreting large volumes of high-resolution aerial, vertical and oblique images (12-36 mega pixels, compile the geo-referenced information into comprehensive CSV metadata bases and other formats such as web based algorithms (axix- axis, bounding boxing), JSON, COCO and YOLO for population analysis. I have also particular interest in bulk annotation for object detection using VIA in the last five years for different organizations.

Alec Christie
Postdoctoral research associate, University of Cambridge, BioRISC (Biosecurity Research Initiative at St Catherine's)
Background: I studied at the University of St Andrews for my BSc Hons in Marine Biology from 2013-2017. During my time I trained and helped conduct research on seals at the SMRU/SOI, cetaceans in Turkey with DMAD, and studied abroad at James Cook University, Australia, undertaking research on coral reefs with Dr Maria Dornelas and Professor Sean Connelly. I was also lucky enough to study polar ecology, including a field course to the Western Antarctic Peninsula in March 2017. I then applied for a PhD project advertised through the Cambridge ESS DTP and joined the Conservation Evidence group in the UCCRI. I completed my PhD in Zoology (Determining the biases and consistences in the evidence for conservation) in March 2021 as a member of King’s College and the University of Cambridge Conservation Research Institute (UCCRI) in the Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI).
I am very interested in communicating science and conservation issues to the public and particularly interested in becoming a wildlife television presenter. In my spare time I am also an amateur wildlife photographer, love getting outdoors and playing all sorts of sports when I can.
Current role: I am a Research Associate in the Department of Zoology and the Biosecurity Research Initiative at St Catherine’s (BioRISC) College. My research focuses on applying evidence-based principles from medicine to biodiversity conservation via the Conservation Evidence project. In particular, my work involves co-developing decision support tools with conservationists working to conserve species and provide them with relevant evidence-based recommendations. Currently, I am working on a project to help report tests of invasive species management interventions via an online app and promote more testing of conservation interventions.

I am a Conservation Biologist actively looking for a job.
Protecting wildlife is what drives me. I dedicated a large portion of my life learning about Conservation Biology and working as a volunteer in order to help non-profit organisations save habitats and threatened species.
I've worked in the field and in the office with various people of various backgrounds. I've done surveys, monitoring, risk assessments, public engagement, woodland and grassland management, and GIS analysis and mapping.
I'm specialised in birds, however, the work that I've done also involved other groups like amphibians, reptiles, mammals (rodents and bats) and plants.
I'm actively looking for an opportunity to use my skills for nature conservation and/or to educate the public about wildlife and its importance.
Ecologist with extensive terrestrial practical survey, training and education, consultancy and advisory experience. Extensive wildlife conservation research and land management project experience as well as in working in forestry, agriculture and natural resource management, climate change resilience and disaster recovery. I've also lectured on field survey techniques, environmental impact assessments and flood and fire risk management and am also working on climate change impacts and mitigation. Open to short term consultancy projects.
