Thanks for sharing this Alasdair. Do you mind if I share it on my twitter feed? It definitely gives food for thought about the delicate response needed in both the short term and long term in response to covid-19 from the conservation sector. In response to your question - we need to ensure that clear targets for local ownership and empowerment are built into any conservation programme, and that we move towards a culture of transparency with communities and partners to ensure impact and lessons learned are shared and communicated. As a movement that prides itself on its scientific origins, the conservation sector's connections to actual evidence, impact and accountability to communities are often tenuous, at best.
