My expertise encompasses a diverse range of areas, including Baseline Studies, Environment Impact Assessments (EIA/IEE/ESIA), Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, and Environmental Conservation & Sustainability. Currently, I am making a significant impact as an Environmental Engineer/Consultant at one of the leading Environmental Consultancy, specializing in preparing comprehensive environmental study reports for clients primarily from Hamriyah Free Zone Sharjah and Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority Dubai. These reports play a crucial role in promoting environmental compliance and sustainable practices within the industry.

I have 10 years of experience in animal welfare and conservation ranging from project management, work plans, and managing implementation partners to fundraising, strategic partnerships and communications.  I'm also a registered veterinary nurse with knowledge and experience in zoonotic disease/one health. I've done work in Zambia, Africa as well as on many elephant conservation campaigns.  My special interests are community conservation, counter wildlife trafficking, poaching , human-wildlife conflict, wildlife protection and behavior change. 

I am a conservation scientist focused on understanding the impacts of landscape-scale disturbance on tropical biodiversity. I’m particularly interested in how we can combine acoustic technologies and machine learning to quantitatively assess these impacts, as well as assess the effectiveness of conservation initiatives. I'm currently a postdoc researcher at the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, UW-Madison using soundscapes to assess the value of forest certification for wildlife in logged forests in Gabon. Previously, I completed my PhD at the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology focused on bats in Borneo. 

I am an environmentalist with five years of experience in biodiversity conservation and wildlife management. The pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology marked a monumental step in shaping my professional journey in conservation. In 2019, I co-founded Kang4Nature, a volunteer youth group dedicated to executing environmental restoration projects in Nairobi, Kenya. This initiative showcased my leadership potential and eventually led me to assume the role of Programs Manager at CHD Conservation Kenya a grassroots organization committed to fostering public engagement in conservation through education and awareness programs, citizen research, and sustainable enterprise development. In this capacity, I have refined my skills in various areas, including curriculum development for youth engagement in conservation, promoting diversity and inclusion of indigenous women and girls in rangelands, stakeholder engagement, partnership cultivation, and fundraising. My commitment to leadership growth led me to participate in the Women in Conservation Leadership fellowship offered by the Centre for Protected Area Management at Colorado State University and the Project Management in Global Health program offered by the University of Washington. These experiences, along with my recent accomplishment of attaining a Master of Philosophy in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge, have contributed significantly to my skill set. While studying at the University of Cambridge, I collaborated with Fauna & Flora, an international conservation organization. My role involved developing guiding recommendations to promote gender-transformative approaches within the conservation sector. Additionally, I provided consulting services to UNEP-WCMC, where I focused on devising innovative strategies to turning complex National Ecosystem Assessment (NEA) reports into impactful Summary for Policy Markers (SPMs). My journey reflects a blend of academic rigor, hands-on experience, and a profound commitment to driving positive change in conservation.

As a fan of outdoor sports, I’ve always been fascinated by nature and the complexities of our ecosystem, it makes me want to do all I can to preserve nature and see it flourish. Hence, in 2018 I've created Motion Aptitude. Senior third sector manager with more than twenty years’ experience in international wildlife conservation, 15 of which in a management and leadership role. My focus has been on driving individual capacity development programmes (conservation leadership, facilitation etc.), institutional capacity building of NGOs, multi-stakeholder collaborations, conservation education and conservation programme development.

As Head of Communications at Whitley Fund for Nature, I am responsible for leading the organisation’s communications strategy, using the charity’s platform to spread awareness about Whitley Award winners across WFN’s website and social media. I lead on campaigns, and support across the charity’s PR and events to raise the profile of Whitley Award winners. I'm also a Trustee of Born Free Foundation, and I founded The Wildlife Blogger Crowd in 2020; a virtual network of over 250 bloggers, social media influencers, podcasters, and filmmakers. In 2021, I published a book of our collective works, ‘Connections With Nature’.

I now work for the National Biodiversity Network Trust as Partnership Officer on the Better Biodiversity Data project, which aims to improve infrastructure and access to biodiversity data in Scotland.  I recently worked with WildTeam UK engaging conservationists with its training and resources, and supported WildTeam Bangladesh in their work on the conservation of the Sundarbans mangrove forest and Bengal tigers. I have previously co-ordinated conservation research for a UK-based woodland charity, completed a PhD on phenology in plants and trees that involved a lot of citizen science, and have done many short-term research and conservation jobs over the years.

I'm a Trustee of WildTeam UK - an organisation providing conservationists with the training and skills needed to design and deliver their projects. I am also Director of the Whitley Fund for Nature - a London-based charity offering conservation leaders across the Global South funding (Awards), training and profile boost.

Ana Yi Soto is a specialist in communications and cooperation for development. Her 12-year professional experience spans the non-profit and private sectors, including NGOs such as Conservation International and Wildlife Conservation Society. She is knowledgeable in rural development, conservation programs, and youth movements across Latin America, Africa, and Europe.  In 2007, she co-founded the International Network of Students for Peace, RED ESPAZ Peru, and on Earth Day 2023, she launched Crea Planeta, a creative agency for planet restoration based in social marketing and behavioral insights. Ana is a Peruvian national and lives in Madagascar, close to the Makira National Park.
