My name is Mugiraneza Eulade and I'm from Rwanda šŸ‡·šŸ‡¼šŸ‡·šŸ‡¼. I am a passionate conservationist with an Advanced Diploma in Wildlife and Conservation Technologies and hands-on experience in wildlife tracking especially chimpanzee, youth mobilization in climate action and environmental protection as a Green Rising Ambassador. I completed a professional internship at Nyungwe National Park, where I participated in a park-wide chimpanzee monitoring survey, enhancing my field and research skills.

Currently, Iā€™m pursuing a Bachelorā€™s Degree in Wildlife and Landscape Management to deepen my expertise at the same time working as Park Ranger at Nyandungu Eco-park.

Cercostachys scandens, locally known as Imikipfu, is blooming once again.

A miracle is unfolding in Nyungwe National Park. After 16 years of waiting, Cercostachys scandens, locally known as Imikipfu, is blooming once again. The last flowering seasons were recorded in 1993 and 2010, and now, in 2026, the forest has come alive with this breathtaking natural wonder. For the next 6ā€“8 months, these beautiful flowers will cover parts of the rainforest before turning into fruits. Then, nature begins another long wait, as a new generation takes 15ā€“16 years to grow and bloom again. While Imikipfu is considered a competitive plant species, its flowers become a lifeline for bees, providing abundant nectar that supports honey production during this rare season. Even nature's competitors have an important role to play. Moments like this remind us that the greatest wonders cannot be rushed. Some are worth waiting 16 years to witness. If you ever needed a reason to visit Nyungwe National Park, this is one you'll remember for a lifetime.

Acanthus pubescens

Acanthus pubescens (Igitovu) is a flowering plant that has thorns on its leaves. commonly found in East Africa, including Rwanda. Hahaha, when we were still young, there was a traditional belief "that a person who couldnā€™t have libido (Sexual desire) would be beaten with this plant and would immediately be cured".
