Damas has MSc in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Water Resources and Environment Management from University of Twenty in Netherlands, is a well-trained Civil & Water Resources Engineer and Environment Expert. his expertise lies in areas of Hydrological Modeling, WASH, community-based natural resources management, institutional strengthening, GIS and Remote Sensing, governance, Integrated Water Resources Management, Climate Change, Environmental Impact Assessment, Payment for Ecosystem Services, Strategic Environmental Assessment, Development of Land use and Forest Management plans, Stakeholders engagement in development process and Resources mobilization, Forest Landscape Restoration, Wetland mapping and monitoring, Project Monitoring and Evaluation and Design of hydro-meteorological monitoring stations. He possesses 12 years of progressive practical experience in the Water and Conservation sector in Tanzania. He is mainly responsible with coordination and delivery of Mara River Catchment Conservation (MRC) Project (USAID funded Project) and Mara Wetland Conservation Project (WetCoP) in the Serengeti - Mara sub-landscape of the Southern Kenya – Northern Tanzania (SOKNOT) Landscape.

My name is Fidèle KASANGANDJO MWAGALWA, a Congolese national, passionate about environmental conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources. I am an experienced and committed environmental analyst with over five years of experience in ecological monitoring and anti-poaching operations across Africa. Over the course of my career, I have developed strong expertise in analyzing ecological dynamics and using advanced tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies. 💼 Most recently, I served as an Environmental Monitoring Analyst at African Parks Congo, where I played a key role in producing strategic reports to guide ranger patrol operations. I also conducted operational analyses to assess the impacts of human activities on biodiversity, supervised aerial surveillance missions, and studied poaching trends—contributing to the preservation of wildlife in Garamba National Park. 🔍 Previously, I worked as a researcher at the Congo Basin Water Resources Research Center, where I led projects focused on water resource analysis and hydrological modeling. My work provided strategic insights for the sustainable development of local territories. I am a passionate communicator and researcher with an extensive background in the environmental humanities and social sciences, dedicated to exploring and fostering connections between people and nature. Based between Sweden and the UK, I work in academia as a researcher and lecturer, teaching courses in environmental law, historical ecology, and disaster risk management. I actively contribute to non-profit organisations promoting conservation and animal welfare. I work with Faunalytics, translating complex research into accessible insights for evidence-based advocacy; write feature articles for Ubuntu Magazine spotlighting conservation initiatives; and serve as Community Advocates Coordinator at WildHub, driving strategic communications and leading initiatives that connect and empower conservation practitioners worldwide. When I’m not working, you’ll find me hiking forest trails with my dog or enjoying a good cup of coffee.

An explorer and an aspirant biodiversity conservation researcher. I seek to delve deeper into the study of the human-nature nexus and strive to foster more harmonious coexistence. I have gained brief experience in wildlife conservation at the Creative Conservation Alliance, working with Western Hoolock Gibbons and a few other wild animals. I am also working as an Associate Trainer at Mekateam, a game-based pedagogy where I provide training on basic climate literacy and biodiversity conservation to youth. Moreover, I synthesize and express my understanding of biodiversity and the natural world through my initiative, 'Toru.' Currently, I am undertaking research on Asian Elephants addressing the human-elephant conflict in Bangladesh.

I am an early career researcher currently working on the recovery of black grouse populations in northern England. From a young age, I have been obsessed with the natural world and have dedicated my life, so far,  to working for wildlife.  I have a BSc in Natural Sciences and an MRes in Biology (focussing on nature-based tourism across Africa and the UK). Experienced Environmental Engineer/Consultant with a proven track record of leading successful environmental initiatives and delivering sustainable solutions. My expertise encompasses a diverse range of areas, including Baseline Studies, Environment Impact Assessments (EIA/IEE/ESIA), Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, and Environmental Conservation & Sustainability. Currently, I am making a significant impact as an Environmental Engineer/Consultant at one of the leading Environmental Consultancy, specializing in preparing comprehensive environmental study reports for clients primarily from Hamriyah Free Zone Sharjah and Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority Dubai. These reports play a crucial role in promoting environmental compliance and sustainable practices within the industry.

I am the founder of Ubuntu Magazine. We share personal stories from the frontlines of conservation globally.  I have a background as a Applied Biologist and have been traveling the African continent since September '22 in a Land Rover Defender. Alongside watching wildlife and learning more about new countries and cultures, we (my partner and I) visit projects for Ubuntu Magazine. 

I am a graduate of Forestry and Environmental Management from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Nigeria, with a strong interest in wildlife conservation, biodiversity, ornithology, forestry, and environmental sustainability. I am passionate about understanding and protecting natural ecosystems and hope to build a career that combines field-based conservation, ecological research, environmental management, and community engagement. My academic training provided me with foundational knowledge and practical experience in areas including forest management, wildlife ecology, biodiversity conservation, nursery management, seed technology, plantation establishment, environmental management, and ecological field surveys. These experiences have strengthened my interest in applying scientific knowledge to real-world environmental and conservation challenges. I have gained additional practical exposure through participation in conservation and biodiversity initiatives, including the Nigerian Bird Atlas Project (NiBAP) under the A.P. Leventis Ornithological Research Institute (APLORI). I have also volunteered with the Biodiversity Preservation Center (BPC), Uyo, contributing to biodiversity awareness, environmental education, and conservation-related activities. I am particularly interested in ornithology, wildlife monitoring, ecological research, habitat conservation, and technology in environmental management. My training in remote sensing and snakebite management has strengthened my field research and environmental monitoring skills. I also actively document biodiversity through wildlife observation, photography, plant cultivation, and bird monitoring and contribute to iNaturalist, where I continue to learn through citizen science and collaboration with naturalists globally. I am open to cooperation, research, internships, fellowships, scholarships, training, and more academic possibilities as I start my career. Working with researchers, conservation groups, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and other groups that promote environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation excites me. My background is mainly in species conservation, education and capacity exchange. I researched mother-young interactions in gorillas and chimpanzees, in captivity and the wild. After that, I worked for three years in Indonesia, where I developed and implemented youth ambassador and community engagement programmes on local and regional scales. I co-founded WildHub, a community of nature conservation professionals, in 2020 and work as their Community Lead. I am furthermore on the Advisory Board of the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) at the University of Kent where I obtained my PhD on capacity development for conservation in 2022.
