In the past few days, I have been trying to fill out a grant application, and it has been really tiring. I had to complete two forms that are almost identical, and it also mentioned that I needed to fill out a list — but the template for that list was nowhere to be found. Luckily, since it’s a university grant, I can easily go and talk to someone about it.
When the question was asked my mind immediately went to physical problems - I have had so many documents that are physically inaccessible or not compatible or where lines and boxes move around the page or can't have text added.
Besides that, I have seen terminology used in application documents which could be interpreted in many different ways. It would be helpful in some cases to have a key or glossary of terms to ensure everything is clear.
I have been trying to take over a grant and the person doing it before me, did not order their files properly and so I have no idea what is the current file, current images to use in the grant. Very frustrating as the person does npt work for us anymore.Â

In my current role, whenever a customer wants to request a change to an existing piece of work, they are supposed to submit a request ticket. However, there’s no ticket type specific to change, so everything looks like a new piece of work when it comes in. It’s only when we initiate scoping that we realise what’s needed, and often time is wasted organising meetings for what could actually be classed as an activity rather than a new project. There’s also no way of filtering by a project on the current system, so it’s quite difficult to quickly find any requests that are relevant to your project, as you have to scroll through all the tickets and look at the details to find what you need.
I've been trying to find our newly agreed rates on our project and there doesn't seem to be a single document with these confirmed rates in our folders, there are many budget iterations and I know where I can find agreed product costs, but no clue where the confirmed resource daily rate is and our project manager is on leave at the moment, so we're just going to have to pause this task until her return.
I recently finished a baseline ecological report. It is not my main work to do this and lots of other work to do and it kept getting pushed back. But this information was really important contribution to the organisation who work at the local forest and with 2 streams that we had monitored over the last 3 years. It took a long time to complete the report and it was rather painful at the end, but very worth while
