Exercis 1
In one of my previous projects with a donor, we had a major challenge not meeting our meadurable impact due to non respect of our set schedule. We established work plans but had difficulties in respecting our datelines due to a heavy administrative and procedural operations. To curb this we had to soilict for a no cost extension but also had a review of our procedures to adapt to the realities in rural settings
Stanley mentioned that they were part of a project where set schedules were not met and they had to apply for a no cost extension. It sounds like the project planning were not sufficient and an adequate buffer was not included in planning their timeline. For most projects, we fall victim to planning fallacy and underestimate the time and resources required to complete a project and overestimate our own ability to control events. This could have been avoided had they ensured that their timeline included a sufficient buffer period to cover unexpected delays, especially if your project is reliant on uncertainty such as administrative and procedural approval systems likely to cause delays.
