Hi! I'm Gwen

Hi! I'm Gwen

Hi everyone, I'm Gwen and I work as Senior Monitoring and Research Officer with the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire in the UK.

I've worked here in one role or another since 2011 and whist we don't get the exotics species and jungles of some places I feel privileged to work with lots of amazingly knowledgeable and dedicated people to protect our little patch.

I spend most of my time co-ordinating a team of volunteers conducting surveys at various sites across our three counties but I try to get out to help as often as I can. A few of the projects I'm currently involved with include bat surveys (acoustic and trapping), dormouse surveys (NDMP & footprint tunnels), monitoring a translocated slow worm population and monitoring some of our rare chalk orchids. I have also run some management trials to help determine the best techniques to use on our various nature reserves and this is something our team is keen to expand on.

A warm welcome from the WildHub community Gwen! Great to have you on board. I was fascinated to read about the chalk orchids (never even heard of these!). You may also be interested in connecting with our member Natalie (Tally) Yoh, who does her PhD research at DICE on improving acoustic tools for monitoring bats. Perhaps you would like to sign up for our WildHub Fika, which is a great way of getting to know individual members of our community.
