The more you learn, the more you realize you don't know. What are some of the ways you've focused your energy on getting to know your local wildlife? The time dedication can be daunting when it feels like there are so many things to try and explore. Some methods for finding a path include:
- Start with one topic or species (you can get specific by choosing one topic that influences a species).
- Explore the first question that comes to mind, and move on from there.
- Hang out in your backyard and observe. Learn the names and behaviors of the plants and animals you see there before expanding your search.
I've noticed that being out in nature is a great way to relieve some stress. Whether this involves finding a woodland trail, walking along a body of water, or wandering around a park, it doesn't really matter.
I'd like to hear more about individual stories about conservation, particularly the problems you feel are most urgent to address.
- What made you get more involved with the field?
- Was it a particular species you wanted to learn more about?
- Was it the heavy-handed storytelling about the danger of climate change?
- Who has influenced your path, and in what ways?
