Job Opportunity: General Manager for Yayasan Jejak Pulang (Orangutan Forest School)

As a leader of the Senior Management Team, you will lead 4 divisions: External Relations, Operations & Enabling Units, and the Activities at Release Site in Mahakam Hulu. We are looking for an experienced manager, who will be the central hub, integrating and aligning all departments to work towards Yayasan Jejak Pulang’s goals according to annual plans. You will work together with the Board on strategic planning and report to the Board on their implantation progress.
Your contribution will be
- To enable operations of Yayasan Jejak Pulang (YJP) to run smoothly and in a coordinated fashion so that YJP can achieve its goals of orangutan rehabilitation and successful reintroduction into the natural habitat.
- Create and maintain processes that enable orangutans and caregivers to be safe and supported by the rest of the organization, both in the Forest School area and at the Release Site in Mahulu.
- Create and organize a safe work environment.
- Integrate the various departments so that the organization is aligned, the departments are mutually supportive and YJP can achieve its desired impact. Guide and oversee inter-departmental cooperation, coordination, and communication.
- Lead the organization in a transparent, fair, inclusive, and inspiring manner, living the notion that, despite hierarchical levels, the members of the organization are essential like parts of one body.
- Responsible for the enhancement of Jejak Pulang’s image by being active and visible to stakeholders, and by working closely with other professional, civic, private, and governmental organizations to emphasize the vision, mission, and overall strategy of Yayasan Jejak Pulang
- Prepare annual and 5-year plans for activities and finances, enable and guarantee alignment with the YJP strategy and develop financial plans and project plans.
- Deliver results following the plans and maintain standards so that YJP continues to be attractive to donors, esp. the Animal Welfare organization FOUR PAWS, its main donor.
- Effective communication with and reporting to the Board as well as translating the advice from Pembina and Pengurus into actions and results.
- Support and assess the department heads in their leadership functions and disseminate the spirit of YJP.
- Responsible to stay in compliance with all laws and regulations. Create systems to monitor all of this.
Your qualification & experience
- Indonesian citizen or resident with a visa deemed applicable for a work permit
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- At least 5 years of experience in leadership/management, preferably in a business environment or international NGOs
- High-level strategic thinking and planning ability, time management skills, delegating, and conflict resolution competencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, transparent and high-integrity leadership, and demonstrated ability to integrate diverse areas of work and characters.
- Willingness and ability to learn about orangutans, animal welfare, and conservation.
- Financial management skills and legal-compliance frameworks of the non-profit organization
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy
