We are in a dynamic world; gone are the days when wildlife conservationists worked alone without involving the local communities. While that approach may have been effective in the past, its viability now is almost noexistent. Currently, involving the local communities is key because we beleive they are the custodians of wildlife species and their habitats.

For effective conservation practices, we must empower the local communities while also conserving the species of our interest and their surrounding habitats. In this regard Angaza Vijiji(AV)  and Bat Conservation International(BCI) have sustainably conserved the Endangered Hildegarde's Tomb Bat while empowering the local communities.

In mid-September 2024, we conducted tree nursery management training with the tree nursery being our pilot project. This project was successfuly set up  by the Three Giant Sister Caves CBO, which soon will be looking for a global market for their seedlings ( mostly indigenous) - from Kwale to the world! What a remarkable achievement.

In mid-December 2024, we held another training session on Sustainable Development Goals and initiated a kitchen garden as our pilot project. The seedlings are almost ready for transplanting, this will help enhance food security in the community.
