Background: Our Online Learning Community

We’re building a vibrant online learning and career development community designed specifically for conservation professionals and those aspiring to join the sector.

This flexible, space offers self-paced, expert-supported training that meets learners wherever they are in their career journey—whether they’re exploring conservation for the first time or seeking to deepen their skills in a specific area.

You’ll contribute to a structured and supported learning experience as the Expert in Residence for this course. Your role includes finalising and shaping high-quality course content—including scripts, slides, quizzes, and case studies—and recording engaging voiceovers for each lesson. 

You’ll ensure the course aligns with recognised global frameworks, while also contributing real-world insights from your own experience. After launch, you’ll offer timely, friendly support by answering learner questions in our online community, and may also take part in live events such as course launches, webinars, or podcast interviews by agreement.

The Course: Certificate in Rewilding (Foundation Level)

  • Duration: 6–10 hours (self-paced online course)
  • Audience: Career switchers, students, early professionals, job seekers
  • Goal: Equip learners with a confident understanding of rewilding—from its principles to practice

Learning outcomes include:

  • Defining rewilding and its ethical foundations
  • Exploring ecological, social, and economic impacts
  • Reviewing case studies (e.g. Knepp, Yellowstone)
  • Understanding global frameworks (e.g. IUCN, Rewilding Britain)
  • Identifying ways to get involved or support rewilding

Assessment: Short quizzes + final multiple-choice exam (80% pass mark).

Draft Framework: Certificate in Rewilding (Foundation)

The Role: Expert in Residence

You will be the expert voice and support guide for the Certificate in Rewilding. This includes:

Course Development | Estimated 20-30 hours

  • Finalise and shape the course content (slides, narrative scripts, quizzes, case studies etc.)
  • Record high-quality voice overs for each lesson.
  • Ensure alignment with global standards (e.g. IUCN, Rewilding Britain).
  • Offer case studies and insights from your experience.

Course Support | Ongoing flexible support

  • Respond to student questions inside our learning community in a timely manner.

Community Engagement | Agreed in advance

  • Participate in events such as live launches, training webinars, welcome events or as a podcast guest.

Course Updating | Agreed in advance

  • Support a full content review expected every 3 years.

Time commitment: Estimated 20-30 hours initially for course development + ongoing flexible support and engagement once launched. 

Remuneration | £25 per hour, paid monthly.

Status | The Expert in Residence is engaged as an independent contractor.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a rewilding practitioner.
  • Passionate about communicating complex ideas simply.
  • Comfortable recording high-quality voice-overs (or willing to learn).
  • Open, friendly, and eager to support learners from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable:

  • Experience with online course design.
  • Comfortable co-hosting live events such as webinars.
