In general, I think fewer meetings is better. But, it depends on the specific activities. Sometimes we have complex situations and it is easier to just get everyone on a call and talk through the documentation instead of sending dozens of emails.

I also like having team update meetings and being able to get a handle on how everyone's workload is going. These meetings are a good way for leadership to convey what is going on in the organization with opportunity for discussion. That context is important for our overall work, but does not always necessarily apply to each specific project I'm working on.

The fewer the meetings the better. Time is used more constructively to increase the impact of the project outside the meeting hours.
