From Vision to Reality: An Update on WildEd Zim’s Journey and Impact

Hi everyone! I wanted to take a moment to reconnect and catch you all up on the meaningful work I’ve been doing. It’s been an incredibly busy but rewarding season, and I'm excited to share how a long-held vision has officially transformed into a functional, expanding initiative.

For those who have been following my journey, you know how deeply passionate I am about context-driven environmental literacy. That passion led to the birth of WildEd Zim. What started as just a vision is now a fully functional initiative, and we are currently in the formal process of registering it as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO).

At WildEd Zim, our core mission is to empower youth stewardship and bridge local environmental challenges with school-based conservation engagement. We do this through targeted, tiered educational programs designed to give students the tools to lead biodiversity conservation right in their communities.

Here is a brief snapshot of what we’ve been up to and the impact we are already seeing:

  • The Eco-Leaders Program: Our flagship educational program utilises a tiered manual approach for school-based engagement. We have officially piloted this program across five schools, successfully reaching 220 students and training 10 teachers to help guide these young conservationists.

  • The Eco-Buddies Initiative: This is an international virtual exchange initiative under the Eco-Leaders program, where we are currently partnering with the Youth Environmental Alliance in the USA to foster global citizenship.

  • Looking Ahead & Expanding: We aren’t stopping at the pilot phase. Our immediate goals focus on expanding the reach of the Eco-Leaders program into more schools, while simultaneously building out and scaling our other initiatives and educational programs.

Here is a link to our latest newsletter WildEd Zim Operational Q1 Newsletter , which dives much deeper into our milestones, fieldwork updates, and the stories of the incredible youth we work with. I look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts, feedback, and insights on the newsletter!

Building an initiative like this takes a village. If you are passionate about youth-led conservation, tech-integrated education, or local environmental literacy, and you want to support our mission, please feel free to reach out directly. Let's connect!
