Hello,

I'm reaching out for suggestions to help us with running online courses. We are looking for a platform that can run online exams. I was thinking that the WildHub hive mind might be able to help.

We need the platform to be

- Able to handle multiple choice questions and automatically mark them

- Automatically create certificates

- Easy to see the results of the exams

- Have an in-built timer

- Easy to upload questions from a spreadsheet

- Affordable

It doesn't need to be able to do a lot of the things Learning Management Systems (LMSs) traditionally do, such as have a message board and host quizzes. Although, a platform that has a place to publish pre-recorded videos would be a bonus.

Tagging some people who may have ideas :)

Thanks so much in advance

Beth

Hi Beth. We use BetterExaminations at the University  (https://www.betterexaminations.com/), which certainly has some of your required functionality.  However,  it may be expensive. Let me know what you end up with. Best as always,  Mark.

Hi Beth, we are currently looking into Thinkific as a learning platform based on recommendations from a couple of other organisations who already use it. I think it has all the functionality you are looking for, but we are only at the start of our journey with it so can't offer personal experience yet. Good luck and let us know what you opt for!

Google has an online course builder that's free. I learned of it from a colleague who developed a volunteer  training program for the aquarium where she works, using this tool.

Hi Beth! I've previously used  Moodle for some of these features (though it's been a while!). There are templates to upload questions for multiple choice qus online too!
