My name is João Luis Bittencourt Guimarães, I am a forest engineer with a master’s degree in nature conservation. I live in the south of Brazil, in Curitiba, with my wife and two children. I was born in France, where I lived until I was two years old, when my parents decided to return to their homeland, Brazil.   I have been working for over 20 years on the themes of biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services and water resources. I have accumulated experience both in the private sector (in companies and as a consultant) and in the non-profit sector(environmental organizations). In recent years, I have worked extensively on the themes of Ecosystem Services (benefits of natural processes for society) and Nature-Based Solutions(NbS). Since 2016, I work as a senior consultant on the development of strategic studies on NbS, Payment for Ecosystem Services, Ecosystem Services assessment and modellingand providing training related to these themes.  I have worked in different work sectors, such as a consulting firm (Montgomey Watson, 2000-2001), within the environmental departament of a large mining company (Vale SA, 2001-2003), and three non-profit nature conservation organizations (Boticário Group Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and Fauna & Flora International, 2003-2016).  I really enjoy developing team solutions, I have a collaborative and adaptive spirit, I am open to the fruitful differences of  opinion, I seek to establish approaches that embrace different points of view. I am used to responding to multiple requests and managing correctly their turnaround time.  I am used to writing proposals and reports on the analyses I carry out, in technical and clear language. I have accumulated extensive professional experience in the modelling of ecosystem services (related to water, soil, carbon, agricultural production, etc.) via the InVEST tool (Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs (https ://naturalcapitalproject.stanford.edu/software/invest ). I have used the InVEST tool extensively in several strategic analyses, mainly aimed at quantifying and mapping the impact of hypothetical development or conservation scenarios on the supply of ecosystem services.

I coordinate citizen science networks established among small-scale fishers, and shark and ray data collectors in fish landing sites. My insight on sharks and rays supports targeted conservation, outreach, and policy initiatives. I also train and mentors WCS citizen scientists and support community engagement and policy recommendations to protect threatened marine megafauna and promote sustainable fisheries in Bangladesh. 

My passion is to help conservationists maintain their resiliency and mental and emotional health throughout their incredibly important work. My background includes animal husbandry in the USA and Namibia, as well as a MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London that included research in Mauritius. I am currently pursuing a Master in Counseling at Arizona State University as a therapist-in-training, and researching how trauma and social support affect conservationists. Experienced Environmental Engineer/Consultant with a proven track record of leading successful environmental initiatives and delivering sustainable solutions. My expertise encompasses a diverse range of areas, including Baseline Studies, Environment Impact Assessments (EIA/IEE/ESIA), Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, and Environmental Conservation & Sustainability. Currently, I am making a significant impact as an Environmental Engineer/Consultant at one of the leading Environmental Consultancy, specializing in preparing comprehensive environmental study reports for clients primarily from Hamriyah Free Zone Sharjah and Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority Dubai. These reports play a crucial role in promoting environmental compliance and sustainable practices within the industry.

I have experience working on environmental and sustainable natural resources management particularly in developing countries contexts with Tanzanian Government, Local and International Non-Governmental Organizations. This encompasses field experience working with local communities on array of issues including advocating for pastoral rights, policy support, capacity building, sustainable management of natural capital and on climate change issues affecting rural producers in developing countries as well as experiences in international platforms, fora and networks. I am currently a program manager in research and development projects with peace for conservation (November 2018 to date). I worked with the College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka in Tanzania as an assistant lecturer (March 2006 to November 2018) With a combination of a Master of Science Degree in Land Management, specializing in ecological conservation from Cranfield University, I have developed skill sets that enable understanding of challenges including development challenges facing countries in an environment where resource scarcity is increasing, population is rising and climate becoming more variable. My current career focus include: • Sustainable land management & arresting land degradation with communities (local/traditional knowledge, priorities and aspirations) • Working with local communities, national and international governments and organizations on climate change adaptation • Climate change mitigation with a focus on low carbon development • Coordinating policy issues around responsible governance of tenure and informed decision-making as a basis for sustainable development. I am also committed to contributing to a body of knowledge and data that will contribute to the realization of Agenda 2030.

I work on communications and learning with the Landscape Finance Lab to support teams working on large-scale landscape solutions. Providing access to conservation finance learning opportunities and hosting a platform for landscape teams to showcase their concepts and development process.  

I am a wildlife lover and I have more than five years collecting data on social behaviors and feeding ecology of mountain gorillas in home. I would like to improve my knowledge and skills in biodiversity conservation and development my career. 

 I am an Ecologist by training. My research interests have focused on : Relations between protected areas and local communities; Wildlife conservation; Community Building; Environmental governance ; Conflict management ; Climate change.

I am an early career conservationist interested in wildlife research, particularly behavioural ecology, and how this feeds into conservation. i have extensive fieldwork experience with different species and some experience with team and project management. Hey everyone! I am an environmental science undergraduate interested in Geographic and Satellite Data Science. As a student I made it my priority to have experience on different paths, such as soil science, behavior and distribution ecology studies, and mesocosms experiments.

A Florida native and University of West Florida alum, she has pursued advanced studies in Tropical Forest Landscapes Conservation and Restoration at Yale University. She has expanded her knowledge in Science Communication and Sustainable Development Goals through Erasmus University Rotterdam. Additionally, she has gained expertise in Large Marine Ecosystems' Assessment and Management from Cape Town University. In addition to her role as an ecopreneur, she actively engages in volunteer work with environmental and conservation organizations, as well as outreach groups, using her professional skills to contribute meaningfully to the assistance of others.

I am a conservation enthusiast with a bias for wildlife fauna. I intend to specialize in project management. I am also looking for more opportunities in conservation all over the world, especially in the UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Namibia, and Tanzania.
