I have a strong background in wildlife and ecological conservation, wildlife medicine, research, publications, literature synthesis, and project management. My passion is to continue contributing to projects, research, and programs that promote biodiversity, conservation efforts, disease mitigation, sustainable and ethical practices, the advancement of science, and foster a more responsible connection between humans and ecosystems. I believe in the One Health approach to conservation and its strong focus on community based initiatives along with a strong emphasis on biodiversity preservation are necessary for project success.
I am currently an independent consultant/researcher, recently focused on analyzing illegal wildlife trafficking incidents, human-wildlife conflict, wildlife disease mitigation, and facilitating project support for reserves/wildlife parks, biodiversity NGOs, and researchers. I am currently working to help launch a large multifaceted project within the Amazonian corridor of Ecuador. In early 2025 I collaborated with the Institute for Ecology and Conservation of Nature (IECN) executing a broad range biodiversity monitoring project within Pu Mat national park for an ongoing molecular, pathogenic, bio-banking and analysis of herpetofaunal populations found in Vietnam. I was able to help them integrate updated biosecurity measures and expand their disease pathogen testing.
In my most recent office role I spent a significant amount of time conducting audits and risk assessments (animal sourcing, emerging disease threats, etc.), collecting and analyzing data, managing projects, developing provocative and innovative, informational/educational content, and synthesizing scientific publications for a variety of stakeholders. Measurement, auditing, analysis, and evaluation of programs to ensure compliance is something I routinely did. The purpose was to provide relevant information to engage continued support from stakeholders in efforts to conduct more sustainable and responsible and ethical business practices, sourcing of materials and animals.
In my previous career I was involved in supporting the development of in country projects/initiatives and facilitating active field operations and logistics on a variety of projects for domestic and foreign government entities.

As an Environmental Management Inspector (EMI) , I, among other things, assure the protection of natural resources by properly and soundly applying NEMA, EIA, rules, and principles. Furthermore, I conduct compliance monitoring and enforcement with mandatory regulations, including proactive compliance inspections of game holding facilities for both private and public institutions. I also examine huge corporations and facilities ( Industrial e.t.c ). In addition, I perform reactive inspections. I participate in criminal investigations for environmental offences that are then brought to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for evaluation and, if necessary, prosecution.

All my life, I have dreamed of living and working abroad and for the last year, I felt that now is the time for me to make this dream come true. The combination of working on nature restoration in a different environment and culture is something I find very interesting. I think I can put my work experience on integrated approaches in the Netherlands to good use in, and at the same time I am eager to learn more from other methods outside the Netherlands.

Conservation Scientist, Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (affiliate)
I am a dedicated conservation scientist interested in bridging gaps between science, conservation, and policy to benefit wildlife and people. With 20 years of experience across career sectors, I have collaborated in diverse working groups to develop science-based conservation strategies that support biodiversity and stakeholder needs.
I specialize in the impacts of climate change and habitat loss on wildlife and ecosystem health. My work on migratory birds as bioindicators of changing seasonality in northern forests in the USA has informed critical initiatives like “Foresters for the Birds” and clean energy policies addressing the climate crisis. In the California Channel Islands, I led recovery efforts with a wildlife non-profit for threatened and endangered species impacted by habitat degradation from introduced species, resulting in species delisting. I taught field courses in sustainable natural resource management in New Zealand that incorporated Indigenous practices. As Director of an undergraduate field research program, I trained the next generation of conservation leaders.
I earned a Ph.D. in behavioral ecology, an M.S. in zoology, and a B.S. in zoology. My postdoctoral work spanned Southeast Asia and the Caribbean, enhancing my regional knowledge of biodiversity hotspots.
I have been engaging as a conservationist and ecologist working as a Biodiversity and Ecosystem Analyst. I am teaching and mentoring students in ecology and wildlife conservation in Higher education together with conducting ecological research and implementing conservation strategies for threatened species and habitats. I am very passionate about promoting environmental sustainability. I enjoy health and fitness, exploring nature, gardening, and conservation efforts.
