WildHub Conservation Catalyst: Fleur Morton
Conservation Catalysts are members of our Core Community who amplify learning by teaming up with other conservation professionals to share stories, insights, and lessons from the field. Fleur joined our Catalyst programme in March 2024, and through her thoughtful interviews, she has brought new voices into our collective learning space.
Fleur is based in Warwickshire, UK. She started her working life in patisserie, but her fascination with human and animal behaviour inspired her to change direction. After completing a BSc in Psychology and later an MSc in Animal Behaviour, she became increasingly interested in conservation communication, research, and education.
While raising two young children, Fleur has found ways to stay engaged in conservation by contributing to our global WildHub community. She brings a unique blend of academic curiosity, empathy, and storytelling to everything she does.
| In parallel, Fleur has continued to grow professionally. She completed a comprehensive suite of practical online training courses with WildTeam UK, earning the designation of Wildlife Conservation Professional in October 2024. And just last month, in June 2025, she reached an exciting new milestone: joining the Board of Trustees at the RSPCA Cambridgeshire Mid East Branch CIO. Her thoughtful contributions at WildHub, combined with her dedication to learning, have helped shape a strong foundation for this achievement. | ![]() |

Through these conversations, Fleur has brought forward the lived experiences, challenges, and triumphs of professionals in the field—while building confidence and clarity in her own career path. I caught up with Fleur to ask her about her Conservation Catalyst journey. Thirza: What benefits have you experienced from being on a journey to becoming a Conservation Catalyst with WildHub? |
![]() |
Fleur: I have met and spoken to some truly amazing human beings that have done such interesting things that have been so inspiring to hear about. Everyone has such different stories about where their life and career has taken them and it has been such a privilege to hear them and write about them. I would say the benefits have been inspiration about where my career could take me, a lot of really great advice and knowledge on many aspects of the wildlife conservation field as a whole as well as specific avenues, and above all else making connections with professionals in this field I feel really proud to have spoken and networked with.
Thirza: What helped you to contribute content on a regular basis and therefore helped you become a WildHub Conservation Catalyst?
 Fleur:
Every time I have had a chat with a professional in this field and pieced together content from it, I have felt such a great sense of achievement. I’ve been inspired by every single individual I have spoken with. That really motivated me to keep contributing content—I knew I would walk away from each conversation with even more inspiration for the field of wildlife conservation, and I could then spread that to others.

Thirza: Which barriers have you experienced to contributing content to WildHub on a regular basis?
Fleur: Honestly, only finding the time to fit it in my schedule sometimes, as I am a stay-at-home mum of two young children, which means I am very busy. But I have managed to fit in work for WildHub wherever I can, as I am so passionate about this field.
Thirza: What advice would you give to other members who would like to become a WildHub Conservation Catalyst?
 Fleur:
Just go for it. It is so worth doing if you are wanting to get started in your career or network with others in this field and learn about other people’s work. Whatever conversation you want to have, whatever professional you look up to or lines of work you want to hear more about, send them an email, set up a meeting and go for it—it is so worth it to keep reaching out to people who inspire you. That inspiration and passion and interest is what makes the best content on this platform, as you will feel so proud of the work you have done and so grateful for the stories you have heard.
Congratulations, Fleur! Your journey is a testament to the power of generosity, curiosity, and community. From sharing inspiring voices to stepping into a leadership role, you’ve shown what’s possible when passion meets action.

"...it is so worth it to keep reaching out to people who inspire you" is such a powerful line! What an incredible person you are, dear@Fleur Morton🌻
And a big congratulations on getting the Bronze Catalyst status! Well deserved.🎉
Oh thank you so much!! ☺️
🌟 Congratulations, Fleur, on reaching Bronze Catalyst status and for the incredible journey you’ve carved out with such grace and curiosity! Your ability to weave empathy, storytelling, and scientific insight into each interview is truly inspiring. I especially loved how you highlighted the power of connection and the ripple effect of sharing stories; your work is a beautiful reminder that conservation is as much about people as it is about nature.
Your path, from patisserie to psychology to conservation leadership, shows how diverse experiences can enrich our field. I’m curious: has your background in psychology and animal behavior shaped the way you approach interviews or storytelling in conservation? Would love to hear more about how those lenses influence your conversations.
What advice would you give to someone starting the role?
Thank you for helping build such a vibrant and inclusive learning space at WildHub! 🌿👏
Thank you so much for your kind words!!
I would say my background in psychology and animal behaviour, and understanding behaviour has really gifted me a wide understanding of key drivers of behaviour and that everyone, human and animal has a wider context and tapestry that is unique to them and influences their behaviour, and you can never stop learning about people and animals in my opinion. It is an endless task and no one knows everything. That is really exciting to me!
My advice to someone starting the role would definitely be follow your passion, it will lead you to the most wonderful places and connect with as many people in the field as you can because everyone has such an incredible story to tell.
Thank you again for such kind words, this really made my day.
Welcome.
